He ordered the fuel hose connector in the threads lately, so he should be good to go.

hey at least let me get my motor before all you guys start stirring up the dealer with more compression tests. haha

i think Nemesis needs to offer his tester services over here in seattle. or one of us needs to buy that tester someone's selling on the forum so we can have one around a bit closer...

yes, i did order the fuel line but it's not in til tomorrow morning. i asked for the old one back to make sure they replace it. should be done on friday.

Is the fuel line covered in the replacement?? Seems silly they would reuse it.

Update on my motor

The PCM has to be ordered and is being shipped from Georgia. Should be here next week. After the PCM is swapped the head tech will run more tests. Mazda USA wants more data before authorizing a new motor.

Thanks. Definitely interested in the all extra charges you pay. Think I read today it is around $500 for the additional parts that can not be taken from the long block.

yeah i guess they charge for oil, coolant, plugs, etc. consumables that they can't replace.

they havent told me anything about what it'll cost yet so we'll see. i know they owe me the $120 for the compression test back though.

Technically, I didn't have to pay for anything.

They hosed my engine mounts during the install though which caused knocking noises. They didn't believe the knocking was anything to do with the engine and was probably my aftermarket suspension, so I paid an arm and a leg for them to troubleshoot that. They never found the problem. Took it to Corksport and they found the problem in 10 minutes.

And that was only one of the problems with my install.

If you have a competent tech working on your car, you shouldn't have to pay a dime.
(funny that I had to pay because a not-so-competent tech worked on mine)

Oh, another quick story. Although I wasn't charged for the tranny flush that they did during the install, they put the wrong weight oil in which made shifting difficult. They did eventually reflush it and put the correct fluid in without charge, but that was just another of the many many many times I had to go back to Tonkin. My install actually took 3 or 4 months!

Don't be nervous, it is not that hard of a swap. I did it from above with my old hands and back on jack stands. Up on a lift and dropped from the bottom would have been awesome and allot easier.

Yes - that is the worst story I have read this year. The fuel system is nothing to take lightly. I had all my injectors refurbished at injector-rehab. All purchased new grommets, gaskets, o-rings, etc. I did not reuse anything. Then Denny (OD) said to replace that connector fuel hose and I did that also. The rest of the fuel system is fine. Just make sure they do not loose the small blue basket inner clips that go on the two red ends. One from the main line by the ABS, and the other at the entry to the secondary fuel rail. (Our gas goes to the secondary rail first, then connects to the primary rail with the culprit hose.)
