It's a lot of fun in a stock car. In some ways, I kinda wish I were back on stock suspension... But yah, you don't need crazy mods to be competitive, especially locally. The biggest problem out here is the weather and the fact that we're in class with WRX's.
There's another Novice school coming up, I still need to add it to the June Racing thread. I was going to try and avoid talking about AutoX at this Dick's meet (since I usually talk about it too much... like, by a lot) but you might be able to convince me to

Ok, I added it 
It's on the 19th. I wasn't planning on doing anything for it but if we have 8's going I might try and volunteer for a chance to run at lunch for free. It's a good excuse to check out Shelton and see if it's a worthwhile spot for us to rent for our own purposes... though I have even less time to try and organize such things now than before 
Oh! Actually, there's a Women's Driver Skills day this weekend too, on Saturday. From what Robert said, there should still be spots open too.

Generally it's $25/half day and the worst thing you're going to do to your car is hit a cone. You're in 2nd gear the whole time so it's very rare that you break 65, 70mph.

@ nate: husband unit has to work thru that weekend, and its kinda weird for me to go to vegas without him... esp with people that arent super familiar... plus im kinda broke i discovered after paying bills yesterday. lol
@ l8tr: yeah... just the prospect of running a course or two has my heart all fluttery and a dumb elementary-school-crush style grin on my face. are there practice runs?? so you know where to go? or just go on out and hope not to screw it up?

you get leave for 2 months?????? no ******* way?? husband unit gets 2 weeks a year basically.

The autox I got to go to was 5 bucks a run. I don't think there was practice, but I watched for a while before taking my first (and fairly slow) run, trying not to make a wrong turn and a fool of myself. By the end of my last run I took 10 seconds off my first run time.
