LOL

Back three years ago, I laid down a 200.8 HP @ 148.6 ft-lbs dyno on a Dynojet. Since then, I have added:

Racing Beat Header
Mazsport Catless Midpipe (For Track Days )
Cobb AccessPort tuned by Jeff

My Mustang dyno results were:
158.6 HP @ 115.9 ft-lbs

Jeff was watching my STFT at idle and could tell the engine was not sealing properly by changing the RPM a bit. Time for the new engine.

So, the side seal is what is failing for me, and an apex for you?

Jeff should be waiting at the gate now for his plane.

The drive this morning was great validation. the car felt really nice. Not just torqier but really smooth everywhere with great throttle response no matter the position. It's much easier to drive in town with my light flywheel and doesn't bog or stutter as much off the line either.

Jeff's work was really nice. As far as empirical evidence I was definitely walking away from Linda on the straightaways today.

Thank Yous!

Thanks to everyone for signing up and trusting me with your money and joining together so we could afford to bring Jeff up here to us in person. Without the group participation we couldn't afford to get Jeff up here.

Thanks to Kito Autosport for having a really well set up shop and professionally run dyno. kito really knows his dyno well and had us on and off the dyno quickly so we could maximize Jeff's tuning time with each person.

Thanks to Linda for Just showing up for the fun of it and bringing Coffee, Donuts, fun, and great pictures.

Thanks to Dan for helping out a couple of the guys wrench on their cars in the parking lot so they could have a good running car for the dyno session and not take up Jeff's tuning time trying to troubleshoot problems.

Thanks to Sean for bringing us Beer! Beer always makes everything better.

And lastly thanks to Jeff for his service to the RX8 community. it really makes a difference having a knowledgeable guy that is also an enthusiast for our cars. He really made sure that he did the best he could with everyone's car. He took some time with each person to answer questions, give them advice and tell them what he thought their next steps should be.

Thanks again everyone!!

Ray if you're reading this I think after this weekend there will definitely be interest in having a BHR ignition solution install party next...

Man, even if I don't install anything I'm definitely going to every event like this, I ended up learning a lot. Thanks for setting this all up Shaun!

Sorry, I missed the drive this morning, I woke up at 12:45

What was really cool about the final tune Jeff created for me was...
I learned that coils with only 6,000 miles can go bad. And that I may have low compression. But even though my car didn't get the gains that some of the others did, because of those issues. It drives much better than before. Up top even with the bad coils it pulls better. And I'm really impressed with the mid range. Pulls much much better in the mid range, both part throttle and full throttle.

Jeff brought a set of MSD coils with him with long leads, we through those on my car after every one else was done to see how much the coils were hurting things. I stupidly left my car idling for a very long time after installing the coils and before getting back on the dyno, so the engine was thoroughly heat soaked. The dyno curve was much smoother, peak HP remained unchanged. Beyond peak I gained about 6HP. And the entire power band before peak lost about 5HP. I'm guessing that if the engine wasn't heat soaked peak gains would have been around 5HP, with gains beyond peak of 10HP or so. The good thing about the heat soaked engine is that when I started the car back up after swapping back to the stock coils everyone noticed that my engine turned over a few times before firing, I had noticed this in the past but didn't think anything of it, and informed me that there's a good chance I have low compression. So that explains the soft numbers, and I may be getting a new engine courtesy of Mazda. Need to get that checked out soon.

Any ways thanks to Shaun for organizing this and thanks to Jeff for coming up hear and tuning our cars for us. It was good to meet everyone.
