Flying up MazdaManiac to Seattle for an AP dyno tuning weekend

Hello,

The dyno tuning session weekend with MazdaManiac in Seattle is on! We will be having the session on 1/17/09 starting at 10:00am. Please plan on showing up at ~9:30-9:45 so we can get started right at 10:00am.

I've found a local shop with a dyno and Jeff Abrams(www.Mazdamaniac.com) is coming to dyno tune anyone's RX8 with any EMS they have.

Here are the details:
Date: 1/17/09
Dyno location: Kito Autosport: http://www.kitoautosport.com/info.html
Cost: $800/day for dyno time (8hrs) + $50 for Jeff to tune Mazdamaniac AP customers. Jeff will also tune other EMS' for $150. This includes a multi pull dyno tune plus a street tuning session.
+cost to fly Jeff up $220.00 (confirmed)
The dyno costs and Jeff's flight will be split equally among the group. So a full day of 8 people minimizes the per person cost.

Jeff will have a couple extra APs at the event for $695 each or you can purchase them ahead of time from his website and he will bring them up with him.

I'll am requesting $50 deposits from people to reserve a slot. These will be refundable if you cancel more than 1 week in advance of the day.

Kristopher_d has agreed to set up deposit taking on his winding road website and will hold deposits for us.

http://www.the-winding-road.com/modu...p?product_id=2

If there is enough interest I will open a waiting list for people to step in to slots if people back out or don't provide deposits.

FAQ:
What if I don't have an Engine Management System I can tune? -Jeff will bring up Access Ports with him for sale if you let him know ahead of time that you would like to buy one. His website price is $695 for an Accessport (AP). Since he's flying up he'll probably not charge shipping.

http://www.mazdamaniac.com/cobb/accessport.htm

So how much is it total?

Assuming 8 people split the group costs for the dyno time and Jeff's flight: ($220+$800=$1020) or $127.50 per person +Jeff's tuning fee
If there are less people this cost will be split equally by the number of people.

If you don't have an EMS:
For the total package it will be $27.50+$100+$50+$695=$872.50

If you already have a MM AP:
$27.50+$100+$50=$177.50

If you have a different EMS or an AP bought from someone else:
$27.50+$100+$150=$277.50

What does the Cobb Acessport(AP) do?

you can learn about it and Jeff's talents here:

or at Cobb's forum here:

I'd love to sign up for this but mid February would be better for me. Any idea if Jeff will bring a few APs to purchase? I will definitely drive up to hang out though.

I'm sure Jeff can bring up a few APs to purchase and tune on the spot. I'll let him respond on whether or not he needs a deposit to bring them up or not.

Great! Please keep in mind once we get the deposit sheet up you could be bumped off the list by someone that puts in their deposit first.

Kristopher_d will notify us when it's ready.

Good news. Kito autosport can do an 8 hour session so we can handle 8-9 slots if there is enough interest.

Thanks Charlie! Funny how it's cheap to fly from Phoenix to Portland in January.

Definitely let us know.

I am putting Jeff up for the weekend. Anyone else willing to put up a caravaner from Oregon?

I'll definitely bring a few APs with me.

I almost always fly USAir. Right now, its $198 round trip.
As soon as Shaun gets enough deposits, I'll book my flight to lock in the price on that portion of the expenses.

Should be a fun trip!

Will definitely be a good time. We can even put some salmon and oysters in your luggage for you to take home.

It will be a Saturday in Mid-January somewhere between the hours of 10-6. the shop can give us an 8 hour day if there is enough interest. If not it will be a 6 hour day from 11-5.

So total cost is going to be $800/# of cars + $200/# of cars + $50 for Jeff?

I wasn't planning on buying an AP til closer to March, but I might be willing to push things up some. I need to figure out how much my whole trip home for Christmas is going to cost me (airfare was already $700, so I need to set a budget for while I'm back there + presents) but I'm definitely interested. I'll definitely stop by to hang out though, I'll update when I figure things out!
