well that messes with my head .
I thought PSI = air flow = power .
I know when I blew my motor I had very low compression in 2 chambers . On the road giving it stick I could not even tell there was an issue . It just would not idle or start without a push.

Proof that you can't feel small changes in HP - his car feels ok; but he was down 40 WHP. It even felt fine on the way to the dyno except for being too rich.

I bet I couldn't have gotten the turbo too much higher since the power was down, but the BNR turbo is just barely waking up at 9 PSI.
But in point saying, the BNR turbo kicks ***. I could definitely tell the difference with the tune that Kane had on the way to the dyno and the BC being tuned. It felt pretty damn good. I just hope I can figure out this issue soon...

Keep us in the loop.

I am very curious to know the deal... I am definitely NOT sure of my diagnosis.

That does not make sense
Did you ever read my Static vs Dynamic Compression article? That is where I am going with my hypothesis.

Do you suppose that I should just go to my local Mazda dealer and have them do a compression test?

If they will do it and it is fairly cheap - I would. Once we verify compression is good - we can start trouble shooting other stuff.

I think I did - long time ago so ......

What I'm getting at is - if you saw 9psi at the UIM to the redline and there was nothing blocking flow from that point onward you should have made approx. 300whp .
Because we know a Renesis flows enough air at that psi to make that hp .

Then you have to ask - why didn't it flow enough air if it was at that psi ?There must be something blocking flow - hence my SSV suggestion .

ORRRR - the issue is that your 10 to 1 motor is ACTUALLY 9 or even 8 to 1... due to worn apex seals.

BUt yeah the SSV is actually a good suggestion; weird how no CEL kicked up though... when mine were stuck open I got a CEL.

But then again we didnt check for the CELs that were popping up because I am used to always having the light on.

Does anyone know the code that is for stuck SSV? I will look when I get off work and see what kind of CELs I am throwing.

Is there any reason why you dont think that they would?

Or because its FI that they wont want to touch it? I am not gonna ask for a new motor, I will just have it rebuild and ported if thats the case.

The only other things I can think of are an exhaust restriction...or an intake restriction

The car has a punched CAT so I doubt its that....

And the Dyno graph had the expected dips for the SSV and APV...so I DUNNO

Bit of a quandary......Compression results would be good..at least it can be ruled out

Plugs looked good, coil terminal connections were ok; and I heard no audible misfires; and the dyno had a sorta ignition issue funky power loss - but not NEARLY as bad as every ignition doomed dyno I have seen.

Let's rule out compression and go from there; It could be vacuum routing - he had a 3/8 inch uncapped nipple on the turbo inlet pipe when I got to the car..... so there are bound to be other issues.

Yep - out in Aberdeen, "where the past is present." LOL

Send me a PM. I travel to Olympia often, and I fly in and out of SeaTac all the time.
