I just made a 200 mile trip today in my boosted renny. AP showed my average fuel consumption for the trip was 26.5mpg and the dyno for my setup was 430rwhp

I could care less about weight, I know my car is not far off of what it was stock. And as I said, plenty of the track guys have weighed their cars and it just so happens that most of them have base Sports since that is the weapon of choice. Weights vary slightly depending on fuel level but more less around 2900lbs. But I will run over there and get weighed and bring a couple of guys along with me so we can get some varying weights.

Hence why I weighed full tank. Can't get any more honest than that

Yeah and the 2960lb weight was with a full tank as well, search the racing section, it's all there.

I searched. All I can find is roturdy garbage claims. I arranged for a local guy with his 04 base sport (like mine with cloth interior) 6 spd to get weighed. I think all his has is a catback and some other bolt ons. I'll have an actual real world number soon.

Seems like you may be in denial. Your LS swapped Base sport is significantly heavier than a stock base sport and that weight is in the worst possible place. What that equates to in track times is yet to be seen. But my guess is that a stock Base Sport would mop the floor with your LS swapped Base Sport on any of the tracks around here. With a capable driver in each car anyway. But it will make a fun stoplight racer I am sure.

I have more like 50k in it, and considering it is a 1.3L 2 rotor I am not sure what your point is? If a high HP were a goal of mine I would own a high HP car.

50k is nothing in the world of car enthusiasts. Especially not over a ten year period.

If littering the scrap yards is your argument, though, I'll wager that there are more piston engines in scrap yards than rotaries... A hell of a lot more.
I would expect so, given the like 10 million - 1 ratio of the piston - rotary engine production ratio.

As far as I have known, the emissions regulations were a primary reason behind killing the RX8
Emissions regulations to kill Mazda RX-8 after 2011 model year?

I have been sitting and combing through alot of threads of guys doin LS swaps into FD's , and almost every thread starts with the statement that their either tired of always wrenching on their 13B, or they are tired of replacing pieces inside of it.

I completely understand the argument for the rotary being unique, cool, different, rev happy, thirsty, small etc, but I cant understand how anyone could argue it being superior to a piston engine overall. Would the entire automotive industry really power their ICE vehicles with piston engines just for the hell of it when a better engine design is right in front of them?

Admittingly the rotaries are very power dense motors for their displacement, but they are chocked full of flaws that make them delicate overall.

As far as swapping the RX8's, yea putting a piston engine in them definitely ***** them up balance & weight wise. No way anyone can argue that when you have extra weight higher up and beyond the axle centerline.
All im trying to do with my swap is not butcher the driving dynamics of the car too badly, and hopefully in the end with a little weight removal, I wont have added weight to the car overall with the swap (The balance will obviously change). Im running all aluminum motor, aluminum flywheel, driveshaft, Braille battery in the back etc etc.

But yes, anyone who swaps and argues the way the car drives didnt change, didnt know how to drive the car properly when it was slow with its stock engine, and has limited knowledge of the engineering of the/any chassis.

WoW! That's impressive! A 5-6lt engine beating a 1.3lt-2.6 if we wanna get to the heart of it. Lol. U must be proud, haha

This thread is mostly about just pushing the various unsubstantiated claims around. Don't take anything too seriously

Yes, because magazine and blog articles = fact. It's true. They have been saying that there is a new rotary coming in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, and 2023. Clearly provable fact.

The only 'truth' to the emissions statement is that Mazda did stop selling the RX-8 in Europe when Europe raised the emissions standard past where the RX-8 was currently making, so it ended sales there a year early. The actual reason for the model to end production is in the sales numbers, only a few hundred in the last production year. That would kill any model unless it was a hypercar, and has killed off a whole lot of piston cars for the same reason.

Here we go again with the "pretty good for the size. Only people who say that are needle d&$@s and weaklings." fact is two similar prices and weights and one is way slower. May be able to csrry more speed into the corner but gets reeled in by a Honda in the straight.

Because........ Everyone knows the roturd is a.horribly unreliable motor with the lifespan of a house fly. Emissions were just the last bullet. They inject oil into the "cavity." damn two stroke.

What I love is the many opinions from people about turbo Renesis RX-8's that have never driven one,

I have no doubt an LS powered RX-8 is quick and could be fast, I don't think anyone would argue that. But how quick or fast and and at what reliability level (not just the engine) has yet to be seen because people either sell them off or they just disappear. And I can only assume they do so because the car is ruined overall.

But yeah if you are looking for a stop light bruiser or drag car I can see how and LS swap might be appealing but when you could just buy a used Vette for around what MOST would spend on the swap, I personally just don't see the point.

But at the end of the day, facts are that Turbo Renesis when properly built is a quick and very fun car and is not the delicate flower that many believe them to be. It's all about the tune. And as far as engine rebuilds go, rebuilding a Renesis is cheap.

SO... I was chatting with my buddy who lives in Round Rock and has pretty fast top mount Turbo Renny about possibly meeting up to see what an LS RX-8 can do versus a proper RX-8. And he asked me, "is that car for sale?, If it's black then I saw it for sale." Selling already LSXREX?

Tell your buddy im down for a little river trip. As far as selling it. I.knew i.was gonna have to sell this.car months ago. Gotta pay for school and GI.Bill is.gonna expire soon. That being said im driving it.everyday until it sells. Despite yalls criticism im very proud of this swap. I did learn the RX8 community is made up mostly of.whiney pussies at the same time. Thanks for.the enlightenment guys.
