Twice the power of a stock Renesis for 6 times the price?

What does a V8 sound like without cams? I know what a rotary sounds like without cams...

That's a big plus on the side of a V8 vs a two rotor . I really have a hard time liking the sound a two rotor makes . But a 3 or even better a 4 rotor .......... now that sound is music to my ears .

I dunno where you buy LS1's, but I sold the 60k mile renesis out of my RX8 for $100 more then a 55k mile LS1 cost me

Uh, without a cam, it would sound like ..................... nothing. silence.

Stock cam sounds good too though

Obviously its all personal taste.

If you have a Renesis on hand, installing it costs you fluids, anti-seize, thread locker, and maybe a few other disposable items.

If you have an LS engine on hand, installing it costs you a hell of a lot more than that.

It never ceases to amazing me how the swap people can never wrap their heads around that.

6 times the price of a worthless broken one maybe. My motor has a stock cam and it just burbles VERY quietly. I love the stealth. When the motor comes out it will get an LS6 cam and ported heads. I don't like a big cam for the street. Ruins the mpg and drivability. Rotors sound good at high rpm. V8s sound good all the time.

Argue that you enjoy the engine more, and I'll let you be entitled to your opinion.

But arguing that any swap is cheaper than just replacing the engine in there is a quantifiable comment that can't actually be supported in a single 1st world country. A basic LS engine makes ... 350? (at the crank). Your cost per hp would have to have your total swap under $3,300 or so. Even if you mod it up to 500hp, you will have to have a swap cost of less than $4,400 to make your 'cost per hp' comment provable.

No one said it is cheaper to swap In an LS than replacing the turd. But in the long term, I will save ALOT of money with the LS swap vs constantly swapping turds. Maybe yalls don't break all the time bc you are the roturdy elite who live and breathe the (should I say it again?). Will I challenge that my car cost is cheaper than anyone's 350 hp RX8. You're damn right and I will also say that my motor will last longer, go faster, turn harder and dare I say weigh the same. I never mentioned the word unique or because it's cool. Those words aren't based on anything other than opinion. I'm talking numbers and facts. My RX8 is probably the most fun car I've ever had for the money. It drives great and does great on gas. I wouldn't be surprised to see more of these popping up.

sub'd lol. Ive said it many times and ill say it again. I LOVE these cars, not so much the power plant though. There not as reliable, powerful, and frankly worse gas mileage then a 500hp LSX car. I think a LS swap would make these cars so much better. And you want to talk about unique? You can see a million rx8s on the road and maybe 1% of those have a 13b, the rest you know there all still a Rene. And none of them will be LSX swapped because its expensive af, but thats what unique is to me.

Really?

People say it all the time.... They are wrong, but they say it all the time.

One example from today:

And 113k on my RX-8 in 5.5 years with no engine replacement costs. Not exactly "constantly replacing them".

There were only 73,297 produced for the US. Quite a few have been wrecked, so lower than that.

We make fun of all of them. Well, all but 1. No one has shown us any others to respect yet.

Because respect from the roturds is "our" number one goal. That's why we swap them. It's like taking a poor retarded kid and giving him a better home with money and crayons.

If you really didn't care, you would never have bothered to reply to anything. The fact that you do means you either enjoy it (like most of us), or get bothered by it. So yeah, you do care about what we think.

Nah. I've noticed that the roturdy guys get REALLY upset when they hear another one of their "unique" motors gets binned in favor of intelligence.... Aw man sorry I meant Pistons. Norotors must be yall's version of hell. the responses from you guys is hilarious. "Jeez don't you guys know nuttin'? There's no way to make the RX8 any better. Besides adding another rotor. GOSH!!"

It's interesting how you react the same way? Just about piston engines getting picked on by people that prefer rotaries.

If this GT500 (2008 era, 12.8's or so stock) is stock except for tires then this LS RX-8 would be about a low 13 second car.

Ah here we go, 12.8's according to http://www.engineswapdepot.com/?p=626 , so that makes it slower than Firecran's REW swapped RX-8 with drag radials and only a couple of tenths slower than a Greddy/BNR60-1 turbo Renny on drag radials. And it's hard to tell but the LS RX-8 appears to be on slicks. Which also means Dannobre's car would likely pull bus lengths on it.

Edit: Oh and this LS1 has lingenfelter heads.

And yet no videos of that run huh? But I guess can see that MAYBE with drag radials, LF LS6 heads, 150 shot of N20, etc. Either way with a stock LS1 you are not destroying a properly built turbo RX-8, especially not a 500HP REW one like Dannobre.

Lol @ hard on for drag strip. Second video the dude leaves in second gear, and also has the e-brake engaged for some reason. Going to have to come up with something better than that to try and say that a turbo renesis will come anywhere close to a cam/intake/exhaust LS swap.

Yeah his driving is wierd. I totally understand the 2nd gear launches with the stock diff though. I would run a taller tire in the rear. Do I think a stock Ls1 can walk away from a turdbo RX8 at the track? Well I'd LOVE to find out. It's a shame your fellow town can't keep SAR alive. All we are left with now is Little River which is now 1/8 mile after that guy ran his mustang up a wall and died.

I don't think the second video is the 12.8 run, judging by the way the Mustang pulled anyway. That is just what the guy said he was running pre nitrous. He was running 12.8's, then 11.9 with a 75shot, then 10.9 with the 150shot supposedly.

My buddy locally ran a 13.1 on drag radials with his Greddy/BNR 60-1 stock build Renesis. And that was years ago tuning with the INT-X.

Perhaps you should stick with polishing and de flooding. Rpm has no correlation to mpg. I actually picked up mpg switching from 3.42s to 4.11s in my camaro. Less load=lower fuel consumption. DFCO is much easier to tune also. It just makes it annoying to drive around town. Just so we are clear, I got 27 mpg driving 200 miles Saturday. Mostly highway. Didn't race anyone and went 75-80 the entire way. That's still on a stock Corvette tune which is VERY safe. They tune them rich from the factory to be safer.
