hae did you succeed,,, I want to go your route
[Did you succed
]i am planning on doing a one of a kind build using and rx8 i purchased and an EJ20 turbocharged engine
this is my first build and would like advice to aid me in completing this the rx8 i own already has a blown engine in it and i wanna do something new with the whole package
the boxer engine will help me keep a low down center of gravity boost torque horsepower and also is allot more tuneable
my course of work would be to first drop the engine with the subframe suspention and gearbox still attached and work on mounting the EJ 20 on there using an adapter plate to connect it to the rx8 gearbox and also custom build engine mounts and stand alone ecu
i dont know if ill get the guage cluster to function but on a performance standpoint it seems worth the hassle
a friend of mines is gonna do a custom map for me so i can switch between power settings from 250hp up to 400hp in 50 hp increments as the car will also be a daily driver as well as a show and track car
anyone has any advice and inputs u can thrown in to aid me in the build
AND PLEASE DONT MENTION USING A 13B OR V6 OR V8 AS I DONT WANT TO USE THEM AND THATS NOT WHAT THIS THREAD IS ABOUT
thanks for any input[/QUOTE]

Keep in mind, I didn't read any of the posts. But, I love the idea. My suggestion is that you try and not do awd. But, if you want to go awd, exhaust will get in the way. You could have a custom turbo manifold made that kept the turbo below the engine, that might help with fitment. You also can use clear tubing to mock up fitment for the exhaust. It's a trick I used on a turbo BMW I built what seems like a millennia ago. GOod luck with the build!

I had the same idea before went to my non rotary swap, but than decided to stick on straight four cylinder. Especially because subby engine is really wide and will be hard to fit it low enough to avoid all around clearance issues. But at the end I hope you will start the project and show us the progress and solutions. Good luck!
