Water Foul
^ It won't hurt anything, but IDK if it will help. What certifications does it have? If Jaso FC or FD, it will work. You will need 2 of those bottles per tank of gas.
Here is good info on premix:

Greetings everyone!
I am toying around the idea of getting a RX-8. I found this gem.
Does this look like a good deal? I will try to get a test drive soon.
I am reading a lot of helpful info on this forum. I currently have a 2008 Honda Accord Coupe V6 and a 1999 Toyota Corolla. The Accord has an automatic transmission while I am using the old Corolla to learn how to drive a manual. I want to get a 4~5 seat Coupe with a manual transmission that can replace the V6 Accord.
I have practiced maintenance like oil changes and spark plug changes on the 2 cars I own now.
Any thoughts?

Major not a huge fan of that intake. Asking price is high, despite miles. Have a rotary specific compression test done. Report back with results. The Rx8 is race car in non race car form, so, take that into consideration - It's a more finicky beast than your hondas.
I agree on the intake. So how much is a stock intake? I want to revert it back to the stock one, or at least put on a dry filter.
I am from Canada, and the asking price is in CAN$. I will definitely try to bring it down. It's about US$8200, and autotrader.ca says the average asking price for this car is about CAN$10300.
I read about the Rotary specific compression test in this forum's newbie post. Will definitely ask them to get that done. Will probably ask about the starter as well.
I think whp wise, a 6MT RX-8 is about as powerful as a 5AT Accord V6. That said, RX-8 has the renowned Rotary engine(so lower centre of gravity and higher redline), has a standard transmission and is a RWD vehicle, so I expect differences. I think I will take some lessons and play around with it on a track if I end up getting the RX-8.

They rev to the moon and back, you can find a stock intake with the undertray on ebay for like $140. Or just look around in a local junkers. I'm keeping mine. If you CAN'T Find a stock intake, the next best thing you can do is get a replacement undertray from BHR or someone like that as the photos make it look like it's missing. . Taking mileage into account the price is fair, ish. Without a rotary specific compression test you'll still hear that all of us are gonna tell you to make a resounding PASS on the car. Hell, I bought my own so in the event someone wants to buy it I can send them the #'s and be like "Compression good. Buy my car."
Yeah, on the car you posted the angle is hard to tell, but it looks like the under tray under the intake is missing. It's a part you need to help shunt air in the right direction under acceleration. As far as "Horsepower" goes... It's rated at 232, Unless you drive one you won't really know what it feels like. It's not quite the same as your every day car, and your power band is from 4k-9k. Also, weird seeing a black windshield wiper fluid reservoir on an 05... Must be a late model 04 or early model 05. Either way, report back!

Couple of things I am reporting back:
- At idling, I noticed the shift **** vibrating a little bit. Normal?
- Condensation in the right rear taillight. Read about those here.
- How loud are these rotaries supposed to be? The engine can be a little loud in the first 3 gears. Once I get to cruise on the highway, it's pretty quiet.
- The power windows can go down automatically, but you have to keep holding the switch to bring them back up. Not sure if I didn't hold it hard enough or something.
- There are 2 recalls. One of them is supposed to be for the fuel tank or the fuel pump, and the other one is for the airbag, I believe.
- Starter is a little weak. Hopefully it's the old, weak starter on the 05s, not a compression issue.
- I asked them to do a compression test at a Mazda dealership. They will ask the Mazda dealership tomorrow.
- The VIN is JM1FE173650141308
Any thoughts?

The shift **** is normal, condensation is normal.
If it is loud it may have an aftermarket exhaust or the CAT has been gutted or removed (cant tell from the photos about the exhaust).
Around 2005 is when most cars moved to the auto-up feature on the windows so I think that may be normal (I have an 09 with auto-up, but my 05 Xterra doesn't have it).
I would set aside $$'s for the upgraded starter for sure, maybe have them replace the battery if they haven't already.
Nothing else really for us to add until the compression results come back.

I just saw a even better deal here.
The owner seems to be very knowledgeable, and it's a newer model selling for cheaper. I will meet up with the owner tomorrow.
I will leave the 05 one as a consideration if the 08 one doesn't work out.
Update:
Just met with the owner. Very nice folk and ver knowledgeable.
Battery, spark plugs, ignition wires and coolant reservoirs were replaced when the owner got his car a year ago.
The only accident with the car is a tailgate that destroyed the bumper. Nothing major.
There is a small dent in the front fender.
The exhaust is modded so the car is a bit loud. Seems like it's hard to get a RX-8 with a stock exhaust.
SAT and Tape buttons do nothing on the radio. Any guesses?
I have to wait until Monday to get a compression test due to the upcoming Good Friday, though. Really liked the car but I want to be on the safe side.

I'm having an issue with my 04 rx 8. I was driving and and went from second gear to third and got on it, as soon as I did this the car died. My clutch was on it's last leg so I assumed I flooded it some how. I got it home changed the plugs wires and coils as well as tried the de-flooding process. When that failed I tried the pull start method. The motor turned over but would not stay running. I'm out of options here and was hoping someone could save me a large bill from Mazda to diagnose this, anyone have any suggestions? This is a 6 speed with 80,000 miles on it.
Update: as embarrassing as it is it was out of gas, the gauge for the gas level was apparently broken so I thought I had a quarter of a tank when I had none. $200 just to hear I was out of gas lol

So I'm getting a fuel smell around the fuel filler cap area. Noticed it while washing the car. I'm not getting any fuel smells inside the car, so it can't be the pump. Just getting it near the fuel cap. No loose filler cap CELs either. I always tighten it until it clicks.
What could this be?

I am actually getting the compression test done on a red 2009 today. Heard Series 2 is a bit better, so if the Series 2 works out, that will be the one I am buying.

Series two means you'll have a warranty. ******' go for it. As far as "Better" That's subjective. They fail less but have more parts on them to keep them from failing. I vote for S2 if it's got good compression and in great shape.
