I know that it has two roters, each roter will have three ingison per rev. Thay can go to 14k RPMs do the fact it' rotational layout compared to a piston engine. The side ports can only be opened so far be for thay hit the water jacket. Bridge ports are the way they are to keep the apex seal on the roter so it dose not call in and damage the engine. And that' on the iron sides. I'm the rx8 13b's Mazda removed the exhaust port from the housing to the iron, in doing so it makes less power with bost. Even tho it still make a lot of power with a turbo still.

I' trying to figure out if it' worth my time and effort to build an ulta 4 race buggy with a rotary. It Will be all wheel drive pushing 40in tall tires in some of the most unforgiving environment

Probably not the best choice but definitely an interesting one.

Don't you need torque in a dune buggy?

It sounds cool and original, but not sure if competitive?

Not a dune buggy, they don't need torque as much as hp. Rock buggys need torque yes. I' making a spin off of that.

I'm asking you guys if it would be competitive with big block V8s

Even 3-rotor NA engines aren't producing more than 300HP without serious modifications and tunes. The RX-8 Renesis only produces ~180rwhp on a good day. At face value, it would be easier and cheaper to use a V8 to get the numbers you want with better reliability.

Now if you want to get involved with turbos and have the budget for it, a 13b rew might be what you're looking for. But again, it's not a easy, cheap process. Just look through some of the swap builds on here, and you'll get an idea of what it takes. On top of that, you're swapping a rotary into a non-rotary car, so there will be a lot of custom parts to be fabricated.

I was thinking turbo it. There kinda ezer for me to do after working with diesels. I'd be making a full tube chassis to race in, I'd run a diesel if thay wornt so hefty (1k lbs). Since im putting that in the back, thats a lot of mass in the back.

the 13b coming in at 250 max is amazing keeps it light and nimble. It revesout for days (that will be nice in the fast parts). The lighter it can be means it is going to flotin the rocks.

Then the 13b-REW out of the 93+ RX7s is probably what you want.

Turbocharging a diesel is probably hugely different from a rotary. Just a guess.

I'm not finding a REW, but I can find the housings. I could put them together right?

Boost is boost. Just need different points for it.

Also making the roters lighter also helps the RPM range, right?

You can put housings together with the rest of a REW... not with any random other random other parts.

Lightened rotors don't just happen.. that's a significant investment and I wouldn't recommend it for boost

If you're interested in making serious power with a Renesis, you would be wise to learn from those who have come before you...
