Hello Hello New Owner Here
So I just picked myself up a used 2005 6MT with 80000 miles for 5000 out the door. I got the carfax and called the last service center and found out that the motor was warranty replaced by Mazda under warranty in 2013 at 57000 miles. I drove 300 miles to get it in a little rental Versa with a CVT and averaged 43 mpg and in short order on the way back I got to know one particular aspect of the RX-8 quite well, it's MPG lol. Despite the thirsty little Wankel and the warmer than preferred transmission tunnel I have already fallen in
II spent many days on RX-8 club looking at quirks and problems and general knowledge before buying it. I am excited to have some rotary power in my life. The 300 mile trip back had a smile on my face the whole time (outside of the slowdowns). The 13b MSP is buttery smooth at speed, tons of power anywhere above 3k, and the body is tight and responsive. You may hate me but I refuse to garage this beauty, she'll get some winter tires and will be my DD.
I've already got a bottle of dino juice in the trunk and a understanding & respect for what the testy rotary needs to survive a long time. I'm happy to be here, Happy to have something of a dream car in my life. Look forward to many discussion with you folks.
