Shenandoah Circuit (Summit Point WV) may 28th, 29th & 30th

The RX-8 was my first sports car and my first manual tranny car. Its been close to 9 months since I bought it and I think I have finally got the hang of driving it. So, to commemorate this great milestone, I have decided to take my car to the track and really learn how to drive the thing.

I have a friend who is going with www.carguys.com to the Shenandoah Circuit (Summit Point WV) may 28th, 29th & 30th. He’s been there a few times (as an observer) and says it is great. Its 3 full days of classroom instruction and track. I was told we would get about 2-3 hours of track time each day.

So, the point of this thread? I guess a few things. One, has anyone ever taken the RX-8 to this track? Has anyone ever used www.carguys.com? Any pointers about my coming experience?

BTW, I live in Falls Church and work in Tysons Corner. I think I will join the DC Mazda club soon.

I've heard ok things about Car Guys. I've actually heard the Mazda Club is one of the best groups to track with (I usually go with BMWCCA). I think Shenandoah Circuit is the new, narrow circuit that Summit Point constructed and opened at the end of last year. I've been waiting to try it out for awhile now.

I've tracked on the full course and Jefferson Circuit and I really like Summit Point very much. I live about 45 minutes away in Hagerstown. I'd highly recommend getting track time because it's very much fun and it will make you a better driver.

For information about Mazda high speed driving instruction events, you can visit www.MazdaDrivers.com. MSCW members receive preregistration discounts since the organization is managed by MSCW founders. You will also recognize several MSCW members among the tech inspectors and pit workers as well.

There were several RX-8s in the class last month. Some of them are on this forum and will likely add their experience and comments to this thread.

The next one is happening at Virginia International Raceway on Father's Day weekend. The course will be 4.2 miles, the longest road course in the United States!

Then Labor Day weekend it's the Shenandoah Circuit at Summit Point.
