Aight ya'll, I think it is about time we start compiling all of the possible places we are looking at for this meet so we can move closer to a decision

That could be a doable trip for some of you, and has Hunter, Windham and Bellyaere mountain.

Upstate NY has the best though in regards to size wise namely Gore and Whiteface (aka Iceface).

Best snow in NY falls around the CNY section though near Syracuse from additional lake effects or north east more at Snowridge, but they're under 1k for vertical drop.

These are the suggestions I have gathered from this thread (if I missed one, my b, just post it back up). I know Vlaze said he is only interested if it is at a large resort. Me personally, I don't care whether it is large or small. I am easy to please.

What I am asking is what peoples preferences are i.e. large resort vs small resort, travel distance, time of stay, month, price limit, and whatever else I have forgotten. So, those interested, post up your answers so we can narrow down a time, place, etc.... to get this ball rollin in the right direction.

Further proof 4gvn4 loves the "meat sausage"

As for the meets, realistically speaking since you're trying to bring together peeps who are in mid-alantic regions then NY/VT/NH/ME would likely not be a good choice with distance and cost to get there and back unless you plan on a 1 time epic meet. You're better off sticking to your slopes down there for a half-way meeting grounds.

I've been siggied again.....

Well, you bring up a good point. My question to everyone then is, do we want this to be a one time EPIC meet over the winter, or more like the sushi meet and try to go once a month?

Well lets be realistic here. First off, hardly anyone I've seen on here when I did other threads involving boarding show they are really into it, maybe 1-2 others tops. This means that those that want to meet up are most likely beginners and don't want to do an epic meet where they're falling on their butt all day and planning for an epic trip.

The snowboarding forum I'm in does a week long meet once a year in the NE for everyone which is a great time since everyone is around intermediate level or slightly beginner that can make it down the hill fine and link turns so you have a mix but the point is they're hardcore about it and travel a distance for the meet for a good sized mountain and snow conditions. This includes staying over a period for 4-5 nights and boarding 5-6 days at the place, that's an epic meet.

I don't foresee that happening here as most from what I grasp are looking at it like playing basketball on the weekend or just hanging out. So I think it would save the pain of trying to get together one huge thing and just try to meet up once a month if that.

If you gotta have someone with you to board or to have fun, then that already concludes a mentality it's just something to do to hang out with people. If you can have fun on your own and go regardless on the weekend because you love it then you're the kind of person that wants to get people together to experience the mountain and not just hang out which can be done off mountain.

Get the idea? Not portraying the perspective it's all serious on the mountain. Just saying there's a difference in mentality for those that love to board and do it as much as they can and those that just say meh, and care to do it a few times a year only when someone else can go/meet up with them, not that there's anything wrong with that. My conclusions is since the latter is the type I visualize most people here being, I think once a month or just a handful of times to meet up at a place during the winter would suffice.

I feel ya. I think (people can correct me if I am assuming wrong) that the general consensus is we are more looking for hanging out and having a good time. Hit the slopes for most of the day, then retire back to the ski lodge bar to put some cold ones back to ease our aching butts. I also think I should have clarified more when I said "EPIC trip". I didn't mean it as a week long adventure, but rather as just one weekend this winter versus going once a month. If people want to do this once a month, I am in. If they would rather just do it once this winter for one weekend, then that is fine too. The reason I am asking about one trip versus monthly, is for distance purposes. If we only do it once, I think people wouldn't mind traveling a little further than if we did it once a month. If it were once a month, I would assume the preference would then be to travel closer.

Right, let me rephrase this. If you can't link your turns and fall down all over, then you're technically wasting your money going to a huge mountain up North since you can fall down and learn how to board at a local one close by. Once you can make it down fine no issue, then look into the bigger stuff. Just my 2 cents.

^ LOL, I know you didn't mean it as I portrayed it, but as you can see we do take things that can easily have subliminal messages in them and bring them to light for humor.

I am getting the idea here that we all (or at least most) would prefer multiple close meets at average priced places. So, would we like to try and do them every third weekend of the month as we do with the Sushi Meet?

That's what I have been trying to get ppl to put input into! Once I get a little more time, I'll try and research further into the ones we already have as options. If you or anyone else has some free time, feel free to look up prices and driving distances.
