Expo1, Hank, look forward to seeing you there. Looks like Paul is also there.
Four 8's is a good start.

Either of you been here before? I am making brake pad decisions. Given how technical it is, I assume it is going to be hard on brakes so I probably need to bring a fresh set of fronts with me...

I was there last June with PDA, did about 3 1/2 hours on this track. I don't think this track is as hard on brakes as the Pocono short tracks. Getting your tire pressures right will be more of a challenge. I do however always bring extra pads. Also go for a ride with an instructor, once you get the line down this is a nice track

Extra pads (Carbotech XP8s) are on their way...Phil @ Driven Performance Equipment is fantastic...

Related questions

My wife wants to know...

How are the facilities at SP? Meaning, is there a place sit under cover like a cafeteria a'la VIR or is it more hard core - sit on pavement under your own awning?

Is there food & drink available at the track?

I want to know...

Closest Gas Station - you know we have 8's and this is an important question...

BTW - Reservations at Shoney's but am skeptical about it... I am looking to stay in a Charles Town B&B, anyone have a suggestion?

TIA

Not much cover at Summit Point Take a look at this video from my trip last year. Near the end of it you can see two buildings there. I am not sure if they added anymore this year. There is a very large lot there so if you can bring a small awning do so. The food is about a 10 minute walk at the main track at summit point I think Dave said that it would be open. Gas is a short drive from the track in Charles Town, but you should bring a little with you anyway should you get caught under 1/4 tank. I will be staying at a motel in Charles Twon the Northgate Inn, it has hot water and a bed. That's about all I care to say.

Wow Expo1, if you're taking the drive down from NJ and Paul is coming over, I should get off my duff and stop complaining about the 4 hr drive from Charleston, WV. I'm gonna check on the date. Any other fall events planned?
I gotta go to the UK in a couple of weeks, but would love to hit S.P. before cold weather grounds us for the season.
Thanks,
Mike

I'll be there in my 8 too. Looking forward to it. Going to have to see if I can pick up some gas cans before this weekend. As I remember, nearest outside gas station (besides the one at the track) is about 15min trip in Charlestown.

Looking at the schedule it seems we will get two runs before and two runs after the lunch break. Show up full and two runs should take you under 1/2. Fill up at lunch and you good for the rest of the day. But I will bring 5 gallons of fuel in case the schedule changes.

I just bring a hat. With long pants and sleeves it should not be an issue.

My friend Alex (who came to Grand East last time w/ blue WRX) is also coming. He ususaly brings one of those canopy/tent things. He'll be there to tech today (I won't reg/tech till Saturdy morning). Are you showing up Friday or Saturday morning Hank?
