Akron/Cleveland 8 Owners.
Saw an 04 yellow RX8 at the intersection of 91 and 224 last night. the driver pulled intot he chase bank parking lot. was around 6pm.
as for there not being salt on the ground... you're right. with all the rain and melt water, it has become brine. woohoo! even better!!!

I worked as a contractor there from May to Sept. was supposed to go contract to hire but GY hired someone from internal for the position, so i got bumped. goddammit the contractor parking lot is a long walk... further away than where the interns park.
Anyway, the guy who drives it leaves between 4 - 430. i believe he gets there around 7ish or so.
There is a gray rx8 that works across the road from me @ Canton Drop Forge.
But... they have autozone stick on fender vents above the RX8's already obvious fender vents.

I'm having a bad day lol. Just got a wisdom tooth pulled and as I walk out the office I see a black 8 (thought I was the only one in town) with the x-men 3 wing on it. Didn't look good tbh.
lol true Steve but then again it only matters what I think
It doesn't matter which class I'm in Brian since I'm only looking at raw times. Lol and it came off an evo so naturally it belongs there....

dont remember there being an RX8 in Xmen 3... hmm have to go back and watch it. all i remember is the story writers fuggering up the storyline beyond all redemption.. hence the reboot
Hey Brian look at this.
section 14 of the 2012 rules reads in part "In particular, some leeway in the area of bodywork allowances (e.g., wings/spoilers beyond those allowed in 14.2.F) is encouraged at Regional Solo events."

The stance I've taken is that you want to try to comply 100% with the rules in the event that you do a national event someday or if want to do an event with some cash prizes where someone might protest you for a stupid reason.
I think there were prizes at the Buchur event we did last year.
Just food for thought.

I strongly AGREE with Steve. Be slow and wise choosing mods. I have spent alot of time and money putting things on and taking them off again. smh

What that is saying basically is that regions should bend the rules for a few reasons:
1). It's not a national event with money on the line
2). Member retention. They don't want some rookie showing up to an event and getting bumped into SM because he has a big goofy non functional (key word) wing on his car, having to run against the more highly prepped legal for SM cars, and getting his *** beat so badly that he never comes back. They want the sport to be fun on all levels, and by adding that note they are suggesting that at non national level events, aka local events, the should be some consideration taken so everyone has fun and wants to return
Having said that, it is ultimately the competitors responsibility to ensure their car meets the rules of their class. If there is an illegal modification then that competitor is responsible to inform his fellow competitors and seeks permission from them to run said class. Even if one person says no out of 50, the car must then go to the class of prep it is legal for. People have been bumped out of StR locally for a steering wheel that wasn't legal.
Or as most people say, you can just make your car legal and not have to worry about it.
The way I look at it is this, autox (for the foreseeable future) is just for fun. I don't intend to compete nationally in official events (yet). Therefore my "mods" are based on this, I put on my car what I think looks/sounds best. For example I'm putting a borla catback on the car even though the HKS single side exhaust would be better for weight savings. I think a single exhaust doesn't fit the car so I won't put it on. Same with the wing. I can't stand the factory spoiler and I didn't like having nothing. Functional or not, I think it looks good. The wing makes it stand out from the crowd and gives it the aggressive look it imho deserves. I don't care if I race in BS, STX or BSP. That's all PAX which I don't care about. I want to compete and have fun with friends. If all of a sudden I am close to you Brian or Steve because of the tires and suspension mods (thanks doc
) and you guys want to blame my non-functional wing, hey, whatever makes you sleep at night. In the end my car looks how I think it should look. It drives the way I think it should, and sounds the way I think it should. When and only when I decide I feel I want performance over looks and or weight, and I want to compete nationally, then I'll make the car legal for the class I want to compete in by adding/removing/changing mods.
PS Brian shouldn't you be out of STX too? Your "illegal" intake mod? With the AEM intake you have to modify the car in such a way you aren't allowed
And Steve didn't you "fool" tech inspection by cleaning your engine to hide the leaking gasket on your engine and then doing annual tech to hide it for the rest of the year?

Nope. Cleaned it. Leak never returned. I only assumed it was a leak from when the head was off the engine before I bought it for the valve replacement and adjustment which explained the funky gasket... Good try though!
Further, Brian teched the car for the annual tech. So I doubt someone of that mechanical inclination can be fooled by parts being cleaned.
And this is ignoring the fact that both OVR and SCR teched my car at every event I ran with them and passed it.
Now, my AP2 bumper, that's a different story.

It doesn't matter to me because (no offense) you aren't anywhere near me. Where you will find the most complaining is when we get into events where there is more than a stupid trinket to win on the line, like we have throughout the year.

Next time you see my car take a good look at where the air filter is. Just because I have an AEM intake on the car doesn't mean it is run the way AEM suggests it to be run.
I participate in national events, I'm not stupid. :p
The only thing illegal on my car for national competition right now is the exhaust. Im pretty sure I'm over 100 db. But I can't be certain as the sound meter at the Nashville Tour was reading low. Some say it was about 10db low, and that would put me at 104 db.
Other than that, the car is to the letter of the law.

The leak on Steve's car was repaired, with my supervision, at his home, when we were working on his car. (it was the oil sensor on the head)
Also, just because you have an annual tech, it does not exclude you from random spot checks. I have on several occasions randomly spot checked cars that have a mental black flag. Typically any vehicle over 3 years old that has a multiple modifications on it that is regularly raced. I take this position very seriously. Steve's car has been a target of my inspections several times. It doesn't mean you have to run it through the tech line, but I will roam paddock and ask people to open their hoods and I will give the car a shake down.
This is for the safety of all competitors as well as me being proactive in making sure everything is safe to run. I can't trust everyone to be 200% on the up and up with maintaining their vehicle and everyone understands this.
Keep fishing frenchie...

I'm not fishing lol. Just trying to get my point across that if you look hard enough you'll find something on every car that's questionable. Wasn't personal just a general statement. I just want to have fun with you guys.
I know you are just looking to come out and have a good time. We all are. What I am saying is that as of the 2012 rules, it leaves ZERO question if the wing is legal or not. The owrking over the past few years has been questionable if you are new to the sport and don't really know how to read the rules.
Basically before, it was understood that if it didn't say you can, then you can't. Now it explicitly states you can't run any wing unless it came from the factory for your specific model year, period.
There are people that will hold the letter of the law to every car they run against, and those that won't. That is all I am telling you. So, if you choose to run that wing all year prepare to go up to all your competitors before every event and state to them that you have it and it is illegal for the class, blah blah blah, do they care if you run it. This is the way we have always done it with NORA, as well as most SCCA regions I run with. It's just something you are going to have to deal with when having an illegal part on the car.
Because you know, racing in a parking lot is srs bzns
Rules are rules, that's just the way it goes man. While your intent is good and you just want to have fun, the part is illegal regardless. People will bitch if you give them a reason to. So just be prepared to potentially have to run in SM at events because of the park bench.
