Akron/Cleveland 8 Owners.
Pretty much!
Or anything else that would allow a bandit to try to start to the , perhaps get it running, and then have it die in the next 100 yards when they're more likely to get out and run away. Its hard to continue the theft process in traffic.

Might be better to install a switch to the starter interlock switch on the clutch pedal.
So even if you press the clutch pedal in, the car still thinks the interlock is defeated.

Much easier than a fuel cutoff switch.
Not to mention its close to where your switch itself would be (inside the cabin).
I'm looking through the electrical diagrams in our shop manual to see if that switch is N/O or N/C (normally open/normally closed).

if this were pretty easy to do, I'd like to run it to the passenger side, just some baddies won't typically look there unless they're able to follow the wire (which would indicate pretty smart...
I just don't want the car to be as easy to thefticate as my civic was. At least this time if I see the 8's tail lights drive away I can think to myself "well played, homie, well played"
EDIT: just checked - racing beat doesn't make a kit for this.

You would want the switch on the drivers side because every time you got in or out of the car you would need to access it. Best place would be somewhere that you can hide it. So I would say like behind the ashtray or in the center glove box under the mat where it kind of dips down. Another option would be to install a factory switch into the left switch cluster, by your Traction Control, and wire it to you switch instead. That way it is out in the open, easy to access, and completely stock looking.
OK... the interlock switch is normally open.
So you only need to splice into one of the wires so that when the pedal is pressed in (switch is then closed), the current is still broken (open circuit).

Think most thieves would be able to identify the clutch wire? I don't know how standard these types of kill switches would be.
Dammit Jon! Haven't you worked with me long enough to know that I have no idea what these drawings mean???

dumb question...since the car is fly by wire...does it have a hydrolic clutch...and if it doesnt...is the clutch wire the right wire to fiddle with with Steve's luck?
I don't see why this would have anything to do with the clutch wire.

well if it was a clutch by wire system I would be wary of Steve cutting any wires related to it. :P And Steve...you really want the system to be easy to use so you use it often and you don't want to it to be too obvious that you are doing it so friends don't just jack your car.

2nd - I really don't have "friends" so that risk is pretty minimal.
3rd - if I consider you guys my friends... the threat is reduced because you guys all have 8s that are probably in better condition than mine... so taking my car would be like a punishment for you.
I'll rattle around tonight when I am cleaning the car and see what I can see...
Any idea what color the clutch wire in question will be?
Just sayin'.
