I dont mind sharing either.. plus it saves me Money lol.. Though I'll be afraid that at night Astral might sneak out and clean all our cars and then clean the room and the bed while I'm still in it.(I think he has a cleaning obsession )

I think what Jeff and I may do is ride with you all to Tupper Lake, or split off before there and stay in Lake George for the night since I have a house there and catch you all in Plattsburgh the next day or meet you in Ausable.

I was just thinking about this---- sorry it's taken me so long to chime in I didn't really sit and look over the route untill today! Been way too busy.

Tupper lake is not that far from the Saranac/ Lake Placid area. I highly suggest trying to make it there to stay for the night. You'd have better luck with lodging and it's a much more popular area. Plus Lake Placid would be a cool place to check out- where the 1980 Olympics were held. I've been there a few times when I was younger and remember it being nice with a lot to do. I am sure there HAS to be some NEAT places for pics there!!

You can then break off to 9N North up to Ausable which should be a beautiful ride.

It's also not far from Lake George so I will be able to help get you guys there if necessary and head back south to LG. There are some fantastic roads in the Lake Placid area as well.

That was my thought as well Krysy.

I think I will investigate that area, as there will be better night life and we can have people bunk to save on funds.

Krysy if you could send me anything in regards to route numbers, suggestions for hotels, etc. that would be great.

Thank you all for your help on this.

My vote would be for Lake Placid area, since there will be more places available to hang out Sat. night. A place better situated to handle that many people is a better idea for all involved.

That said, splitting up across several hotels/motels shouldn't really be a big deal.

I am very interested in this run as I just bought my Rx8 last week and have not been on one yet. I would most likely meet you all in Albany, NY and join the line there. I will follow the board and see what progresses. The only thing I could see interfering with this run is my fiancee grad-school graduation. I hope to be at the run.

Congrats on the 8.

It's only about 80 miles from Albany to the start, join there!! It would be 80 miles at your own speed, w/no worries about being stuck behind the ATs!!

I couldn't resist taking a shot, too . . .

Just requested a group rate request on Orbitz for the following hotels. Because this group seems to keep growing I asked for 20 rooms.

These are the hotels that I talked to that can handle our group:

The following hotels have received your request:
Hilton Lake Placid Resort: 1 Mirror Lake Drive, Lake Placid NY
Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort/ Lake Placid: 2559 Main Street, Lake Placid NY
Crowne Plaza Resort Lake Placid: One Olympic Drive, Lake Placid NY

I just did a mapquest search for Lake Placid and all 3 of those hotels came up as reference points. Seems like that's the best way to go.

Since it will be the beginning of the season, we *should* be able to get a good group rate.

Once the route change is confirmed I'll figure out how many miles it'll be. Not really sure what else can be done to help - let me know.

Who are we kidding . . . this has little to do with the destination and everything to do with getting there.

I am a "Maybe" for now. I would probably need to stay in Brattleboro Friday night. What time is the Sat AM Brattleboro departure?

I was going to suggest the Hilton, it's really nice.

You used to be able to take bobsled rides on the old bobsled course. That would be a blast if they still do that. I should have some time tomorrow to look over this all and maybe come up with some more points of interest.
I'll also talk to my dad and find out some good places to eat in the Lake Placid region. I know a lot in LG, but that's about it.

Excellent Krysy! Thank you very much for your help.

RX8Maine - I am thinking that Brattleboro meeting time should be 8am in order to get a full day in without being rushed. There is a nice Holiday Inn express right off the Interstate. I have stayed there before and it has very reasonable rates.

Brattlboro is even an hour from me. I am just familiar with that area because I have two cell phones stores there and one in Bennington as well.

Fantastic! I really hope that everyone on the list really can come and we can also get some more with this. This is shaping up to be the biggest run I have ever been on!

Thank you again to everyone who has lent a helping hand in this.

As long as Shinka's agreeing to go with me and be a bunkmate, I'm eyeing this meet as well. Looks like a blast!
