Good to see G-force on the list. I haven't see him post since someone said he got rid of his 8 awhile back. I see he stayed in the mazda family...

Well I thought the auto-bahn front was the way I wanted to go but now that its been replicated and made less expensive, a lot of people will have it. It's less rare. It's such a double-edged sword... you want it cheap? So does everyone else. I guess I will have to be unique and spend some money for my knightsport nose...

It took me a while, but I finally got caught up on this thread and - HOLY COW!!!! This is awesome!!! I have several things to remark on, but let me just comment on hotels for now.

I decided to check on tripadvisor.com to see what ppl have said about the different hotels in Lake Placid. (I'm a member of tripadvisor and it's a good place to see what ppl honestly thing of their stays.) I did a search for rates at the Crowne Plaza, selecting the "check other sites" button, and depending on what site you look at, you can get very different prices for the same dates. Here's what I mean:

Orbitz

interContinental Hotels

Travelocity

If you want some help with this, I'll be glad to make some phone calls. Sometimes you just need to be armed with the internet prices and you can negotiate some decent fares.

Let me know!

BTW - Nice job, DRK!!!!!! Not bad for coordinating your first event!!!!!

Lil'Red,

Thanks for your help on this. Unfortunately my time is being consumed by work. Not to sound like an elitist or tooting my own horn here but I have a large company to run, with staff always calling me and managing the 6 locations I have and yada yada yada. Just been tough for me.

I hate admitting that I need help because I know others have busy lives too and its not all about me. I will continue to work on this and will keep posting my results as soon as I have them to share.

Thanks again!!

SO here are our options as I see it right now:

1. Move to a larger town with a larger hotel so there are rooms available to everyone in the same place.

2. See if any of the single guys wanna "bunk" with each other in the 7 rooms that have two beds available.

3. Split up the group at different hotels.

I need your help all! Give me your thoughts!
Dunno if this has been resolved yet, but how do folks feel about camping? That's an easy and cheap way to accommodate a large group, especially this early in the season.

Obviously, if we go that route, we wouldn't be roughing it as it'd have to be at a site that can accommodate low-clearance vehicles (a lot of campgrounds are paved nowadays anyway).

Hotel, motel, campground, whatever... I have no preference myself.

i would vote no to camping or motels but could always stay at a nearby hotel if the group decides to go that route.

Sorry, getting a hold of my dad for route information has been like looking for a needle in a haystack. We are in no rush at this point, but I will post it as soon as I have it.

I hear ya on work and being consumed. Reebok has been my life the past 3 weeks. Eat, sleep, drink, and wear RBK. It's getting out of hand, I need a vacation.........

I just heard of this run from dmc27 and I'm looking into it... sounds awesome!

I might be joining you guys in Amsterdam, taking off from Montreal. I'm trying to convince some friends join me. So that would be +1 black RX8 and +?... to be confirmed!

Sounds great!

I would check with RX8Maine or some southern NH members about meeting up with them.

Well I found out yesterday that my mother can watch my boys for the weekend,so I am in with my wife as long as it is still okay for me to come with my RX-7. I am concerned however with the hotel rates.Hopefully we can get a better rate than what was quoted so far.

I was wondering when some of the MA members are headed out there(friday night, early sat morning, other?),and if I could meet up with them somewhere, and do a run on the mohawk trail on our way out.I would probably be inclined to leave on friday night, but that may not be possible with my mother schedule, and her being the one watching the boys.

I may have another friend with a 87 RX-7 that may be coming as well, but I don't know for sure yet.

I guess I need to get busy swapping the tranny in my 7 now,so that it's ready. You guys can add me to the list.

I believe a bunch of us will be meeting up in MA early on Saturday morning. Depending on locals might meet up somewhere in Dedham, or possibly closer to the Pike depending on how the route to the starting point looks (havent looked at a map to it in awhile.) I myself live south of boston and Holy the same so we'll most likely be meeting up and be awsome to hook up with a few more people to. The Service Station were I meet up with Astral and Krysty for the Bridge run was a great place if its not beyond the highway route we need to take to get there.

My wife and I are planning to stay in Brattleboro, VT on Friday night. Anyone starting further into Maine (Varney?) can meet up in Portland and we can cruise down together.
