Yea its simple. I did mine on Saturday (including clutch), took me 1 hour. Also did it without taking the tires off.

OK, next question: helmets. What is required/recommended, and where are some good places to look for them? I'd like to go someplace where you can try them on, as I have a big ole noggin.

Generally SA-2005 is what is or is going to be required. M2005 may work as well but you would need to check with the sanctioning body or the organization hosting the event. I don't know if there are any race shops around your area, you might need to google that but I went to a motorcycle shop and tried a few on. You will also want to go with an open face.

Just curious, why do you say open face (rather than closed face)?

Airbags can get caught on closed face and do 1 of 2 things: suffocate you by restricting airflow to the inside of the helmet or grab the helmet and yank it(you) forward as it rapidly deflates and snap your neck.

What kind of brake fluid do you guys recommend? How much you think I'll need? Keep in mind this is my first track day, so I doubt I'll be driving it nearly as hard as you guys do. Going to try to focus more on being smooth.

Just as a FYI when I ran my first event at RA I used the stock fluid and had no issues. Granted my car only had 13K miles, so if you don't get to it and your fluid is in good shape no worries. Though it is a good idea to do it.

I am in the process of deciding whether to run Gingerman with NASA or RA with the F-body club. Being that I'll be doing RA again in two weeks I might do the gingerman event. The only thing holdng me back is the 4 hour drive

I'd love to, but unfortunately I can't. Between my committment on Saturdays and autocross on Sundays, my weekends are fully booked.

are you coming Saturday, devildog?

Gingerman is going to be HPDE only with no TT, no race classes and none of the very unusual skip barber or yokohama cup bullshit. It will be WAY less crowded and I would guess we would get a bunch of track time.

I also pefer an open face helmet. When running a formula car or riding motorcycle, then I will use the full face.

I have been using the stock brake fluid and had very little brake fade since I started using the car. I have had to bleed the brakes once in the past 3 yrs. It's probably time, for me, to do a fluid swap. Just due to the age of the fluid.
