Check near the bottom of this list: http://www.finishlineperformance.com...intenance.html

The trans oil, diff oil, and washers are all there. You'll need two of either MTL or MT-90, and two 75w90 diff fluid. You'll also need one of each of the two drain washers.

The pump you'll need is just your basic kind of hand pump that'll screw onto a gallon jug or perhaps even the individual bottles of oil. Just anything to combat gravity and has a tube on the nozzle end to fill the oil.

All of this and I could've just said... "Check the DIY forums"

Hey guys, any of you ever get wheels painted around here? I am thinking about hitting up on that set of Gram Light 57F wheels for $999 @ therpmstore.com and having them painted white. There is a place off of St. Charles Rock Rd. that quoted me $145 a wheel to have painted; is this a bit much? Do you know of other places that also offer this service?

Hey baseball and waterlogged,

I am looking to do this too (plus do the coolant), and not that you two have to wait for me at all, but I wouldn't be able to do this until the 20th of May or June the 16th. I want to learn somethings from other owners and maybe hit up the track on sundays a time or two this summer.

If you want I will buy the pump and you can use it that day too.

Also I read all the forums, but would you recommend the Royal Purple treatment?

Tails

I've never gone the Royal Purple route but some people swear by it. I've always been using Redline and haven't had any issues and the shifting works.

As far as the 20th, if that works out for everyone else I'd be okay to help out that day. I might even do mine at the same time. As far as the pump goes, whoever jumps first. It's super cheap so I might just go ahead and get one. The silly one I've used is pretty much crap. The one that fisherdn had worked out pretty well. Just make sure you don't get any of the diffy oil on you. That stuff stanks!

I have Royal Purple in both my diff and my tranny... had it swapped out around 5000 miles at Valvoline. I noticed a slight improvement in smooth shifting; nothing drastic. Considering I got it done so soon, I didn't really have much of a chance to get a very good feel for the stock fluids. One thing I did notice that seems consistent with what others say is that cold weather starts are definitely smoother with this stuff than stock.

I'll be back in town on the 20th and raring to do some mods. I may be a little tired however, I will be coming back from a 10day stint in vegas. I may also be a little light on the peso.

Yeah, I swapped mine right away also. You get used to the smooth shifting very easily. The best comparison you can get is to drive someone's car who hasn't done it yet and has about the same amount of miles on it. Even then there's different factors involved to give the actual "feel". All I can say is, once you switch over to a synthetic, you'll never go back. Well, that and a short-shifter.

10 days in Vegas? I certainly hope it's not just for vacation. Otherwise there's no way in hell you're going to make it back with any money to your name. I don't want to hear you come back and tell us you had to trade in the RX-8 so you could place an all-in bet on roulette just because you "had a feeling."

Unlike H2O, I would find it hilarious if you did this!!

On a more serious note, I'll be in Nevada the same time you will Terrets. But I'll be at Lake Tahoe, and California for a while too. Enjoy!

Sounds like my kind of vacation, fish. Except I hit the OTHER really deep lake last year: Crater Lake in Oregon. Doing any camping or hiking or just hitting the casinos? It's a great time of year to be in the mountains!

No casinos for me. Camping in Tahoe and Yosemite. Hiking in both, and at Mammoth Lakes and Mariposa (on Merced River). My gf worked at Yosemite, so she's quite outdoorsy, and knows the good spots! I'm really looking forward to it.

I hope to get to Oregon later this summer. Not Crater lake, but probably Portland and Eugene. There's a microbrew fest in Portland I really hope to get to!

Every day is a microbrew fest in Portland! I swear every restaurant has their own brew. I know the brewfest you're talking about, though. I've always missed it when I've gone up. Eugene is nice, AND has one of the best quality um... adult visual experiences I've ever been to.

Could I get in on the Tranny Differential fluid swap on the 20th? I really need it bad and could use some help.

Absolutely! Unfortunately I forgot to look at one of my other calendars in the house and realize that I have our family picnic that day. But the 19th is still good for me. I realize that doesn't work out for TKE Tails or Terretsboy, but we can catch them at a later date. I still have some things I'll need to do on a later garage day. BBG, you still up for it?

I may join in on the 20th. I need at least an oil change, and I couldn't miss another chance to spew diff oil on H2O again!

I'd like to finally go this time as well; however depending on time, I would not be able to make the 20th, as I work Sundays at 5pm. The 19th on the otherhand is just fine. If anything, those of you that haven't had the fluid swap yet can use my car for comparison.

Awe, bummer. I thought I'd return the favor of a Redline shower.

Now I can't make the 20th of May either. I will forget, so how about the middle of June someone remember to ask about June 16th or 17th to meet up.

I looks like we're meeting on the 19th of May at the very least. I believe BBG and I are also planning a couple other things to do, so maybe mid-June would be a good time to do them.
