St Louis area 8 owners
We had 5 8s. Lee has the R3. Matthew rode along and the white Protege wagon was there as well. I drove out 30 to St. Clair a few weeks ago and it was pretty cool. Give me a few days notice so I can have my brother ride along.

Some nice driving roads on the way there, well paved and somewhat twisty. We could meet somewhere around 270 & Tesson Ferry (Hwy 21) and head out. Some people bring charcoal, some hot dogs, hamburgers, soda, chips, etc ... on site there are plenty of public grills to use, and parking. Bring a football and frisbee to toss around while we're there, grill and hang out for awhile, then drive back. Whoever is left could hit somewhere in South County for dinner and a few beers.

Mastodon is literally 1 minute from my house. I would like Elephant rock a bit more im sure.
Mike its nice to hear from you, its been a while.
Boostd7 you too.
Anyway theres a few things coming up.
April 6th is the drift event at Gateway,
April 18-21st DGRR so I wont be here for that.
Then May 25th is the Mazdameet at Pere Marquette.
Anything that's not those weekends work, the third week of March works for everyone right?
Also I've got the splitter all painted up just need to do clear coat now. Once this ones all on the car I'm going to start on a second version to fix some small things.

The 3rd week of March is good. The 4th week is a NASA event at Gateway.
It is also sooner rather than later and we need a get together because I have the need to verbally abuse people that aren't high school kids.

Rotary Mechanic in Area
Doubtless this is a silly place to butt in and ask this, but lacking alternatives I'll appeal to your good natures and give it a try anyway.
I'm considering purchasing a used RX-8 and would really like to know of any independent local shops which can be trusted to properly service these cars. Love just about everything about the car itself -- I'm not a serious car guy but did some Solo II in the early aughts and appreciate a taut-handling vehicle.
Anyway, I'd hate to be locked into the dealership's service department, but I'm not sure where to begin finding a reputable mechanic. Any advice greatly appreciated . . .

Most of the guys here do their own work, unless it is a big enough problem that they need to take it to the dealership. Which would probably be your best bet at that point. For regular maintenance though, I have no idea.

. Like Cole said, a lot of Rx-8 owners do their own maintenance and there are a bunch of guys that are always willing to help out. The rx8club forums are also a lot of help for modding or car trouble. If its a serious problem, such as an engine rebuild, the "rotarydoctor" is also an option. (Not saying that is likely just trying to cover all the possibilities lol)
