Michigan RX-8 Lounge
Hey Korean... I was going to Bath city for dinner....
I've been driving mine more now that the weather is getting a little better. Mine tachs pretty high at start up too but I figure it's set up that way to burn enough gas to keep from flooding. Let us know what the deal is with the dealership.

Hey, new Michigan owner here from Lansing. Just got a brilliant black rx8.
So I commute to grand rapids and I was unaware of how weak the paint is on the RX8. There is now like 15 paint chips on my hood. Sucks big time, especially since I just got it.
Anyone know of a reputable body shop around here?

My RX8 is out of the shop with a brand new engine!
Hi guys. Thanks a lot for your comments and helpful feed backs. I got my RX8 back with a brand new engine and it is running great. I am getting itchy to push it to 9000RPM, but I am in the process of breaking it in @4000RPM until about 600 miles or so... so, no real fun yet... but I am just happy to be driving it around.
Two interesting things happened tho. The first thing is that they charged me for an oil change on the brand new engine... They said that the vehicle needs oil and new filter. Ok, that kind of makes sense so I paid. And the Service Manager was nice enough to pick up a few days on my rental for taking so long. Nice gesture.
The second interesting thing is that as I was driving my car, I heard a bolt pop out from under my car and fling out. I freaked out at first thinking that it came from the engine or something. I had to park, run out in the middle of the street and pick up the bolt. I drove home carefully, looked underneath the car and noticed that there was a underbody cover?? towards the front wheels where there were three other bolts were hanging loosely. I am guessing that this is the cover that protects the oil filter or something?? I think I read about this somewhere. SO, I had to screw the loose 3 and put in the fourth missing bolt. This also took care of the light rattling sound that I had. Did I do the right thing????

Anyone interest in a 2004 Rx8 tiGrey with 29000miles! New Exedy stage 1 clutch and prolite flywheel with act counterweight. Also a New tranny just install by russ darrow mazda. Im selling my car! $15,000 or Best offer! in WI
Beware. Check your oil cooler oil lines for rust, specifically on the drivers side. You can see one of the lines by looking from up under the car at the front drivers side of the oil pan. Mine rusted right through and began blowing copious amounts of oil out on the road. I only have 48,000 miles and drove the car through 3 winters. The lines that I looked at on the drivers side look like they are off of my 37 year old Datsun. VERY RUSTED! The solid hose on the power steering pump is inches away from one of these lines and it looks pristine with no signs of rust at all. Similar size but I'll bet made out of a way different metal or coating.
This is no recall on this here in the US only in Canada.
My advice is to either not drive in the salt or to try to coat the lines with something that resists the effects of Michigan Salt.

well the best part about the oil leak is you can replace all the lines with nice russell lines and fitttings!
I agree about the meet, Lansing or midland would be a good meeting spot since its in the middle of the state (highways)
I just have to wait for all the snow to melt up here at tech before I pull the car out of storage.

Haha that must be what the shop in Colorado fixed for me. They said there was an oil leak coming from one of the lines... interesting...

BTW, til next Spring I am no longer an 8 driver... the car is back in Colorado til then...
However, the good news is, my current daily driver is now my rallyx car, my dad is driving the 8 on weekends/nice days and is garaging it, and last but not least when I get it back I'll have both my cars which means the 8 will no longer be driven daily or in the snow/rain yay!
It was free for me... but I'm getting a cat put back on the car sooo uh ya...
BTW, I spotted a black rx8 gt with nav. Looked completely stock. You were on 94 this morning around 730 and got off at the Conner Airport exit in Detroit. Anyone on here? I was in the Panda Subie
