If you want your car to be tuned then yes you need some form of engine management. Many people are going with the COBB Accessport instead of a piggyback unit. However, if you just want to dyno your car and see what power it is making then you do not need the AP.

I am sure if you want to purchase one MazdaManiac would be happy to sell you one or bring you one to buy on the day of the dyno.

I'm in for a dyno, no tune. If I manage to get everything for my turbo, I'll have a Int-x to tune, but that's highly unlikely within the time frame.

4. luis_o_98 - MM tune
5. Macius8 - dyno only

i know what ya mean ... i am just waiting on my midpipe and i am hoping a month is enough time for Mazsport to get it to me. Then i figure Jeff can just bring an accessport for me to buy to the dyno. Hopefully things go as planned.

Yes, I have already asked MM and he is willing to fly in for a dyno day. I'm sure Charles R. Hill will come along too. I have not discussed prices with MM for his services but I'm sure they are reasonable.

I really want MM to come because he has tunes already made for both N/A and Turbo cars. Any other shop that can tune the AP is not going to have this. I'm not saying I wouldn't allow them to use my car to develop a turbo tune but it is going to take time. Time I don't really want to pay for.

Anyway, once we get price quotes from a couple of different shops we will have a better idea. I have not heard from OP and I didn't hear from the shop I contacted directly. I'm sure they will get back to me it just might take a couple of days.

As far as dates, It looks like it might be June before we could do anything. I say this because May 24-26 is a holiday weekend. I like May 31st but it looks like the Chicago group is planning to go to a Cubs game that day. This leaves us with June 7th or June 14th. There is a Lakeshore meet planned for June 7th but unless we get about 20 cars signed up we should be done by then.

What do you guys think?

I agree with having MM tune. It would be much quicker but also at the same time it seems like MM is "the man" to have your car tuned by now a days as far as a rotary goes. haha..

As far as the date goes, either one of the june weeks would be good for me. Maybe see what works best for jeff?

This is conditional - if I get the turbo installed in time. I've thought about asking if MM could do the install while he's here. Of course, any cost associated with getting him out here for extra days for this would be my responsibility. Still, it would likely be cheaper than the other plan I had: Driving out to Phoenix.

hmm... i am not sure if MM would do an install that far from home, and you would probably have to supply the shop and tools for the install. Maybe see if charles would do the install, I hear he does alot of work on the 8 and is alot closer to where you live.

Yes, there is that is what the AP is for. People from the CA dyno day had a increase of 19HP from the AP. That's more then anyother mod out there short of FI.

That's misleading.

there is no base dyno.

You can NOT judge the tune using the base AP map.

You need to know what your car dynos before the AP install.

That will tell you how much you will gain.

During testing last year TeamRx8 got 222 RWHP w/ his mods.

I'm just restating what people posted, that is that even though the Dyno #'s were out of wack some increased 19HP from their base run. If this holds to be true this can be the single largest gain from any mod short of FI.

RWags - PM me because we need to talk about how to get your turbo installed before this dyno day.

Everybody else - Great Job but keep trying to recruit. I figure we need at least 12-15 people to make this work cost wise.

8 people is good, based on prices I've seen in Madison this would mean $81 for the Dyno rental for the whole day (not including MM's Fee). lets rally the troops, the more we get the cheapr it will be

I agree $81 is totally cool with me. But, I have to help with MM plane tickets, hotel, and tuning fees. Thats why I would really like to see at least 12 people 10 of which wanting a MM tune. Come on guys I know we can do it!!!
