MazdaManiacs tunes are locked so the shop will have to create a tune to start with. I don't know if Cobb provides its authorized dealers with a base tune but that would help for the NA cars. The turbo guys are probably SOL. P&L would have to create a tune from scratch and that is going to take some time. I was told a day for them to tune my car.

but since they hace tuned an 8 already, shouldnt that give them a base tune to start with off of the RX8, or, Couldnt they just start with the COBB stage 1 map that they have with the AP? This is all for the NA 8 ofcourse.

Yes, I figure that the authorized dealers have access to an unlocked version of the Cobb stage 1.

Would anybody be interested in getting MazdaManiac here to do some tuning? I'm pretty sure I could set that up. Then we wouldn't HAVE to go to P&L. We could go anywhere because he has the Pro tuner software. Possibly Performance Autoworks like importshowoff suggested?

i would most definately be down for some MM tuning. I would prefer he tune mine anyway but he is so far away. Granted it would have to be in about a month or so cuz i am waiting on my Mazsport DR Midpipe and i still need to actually purchase the AP off of him. But then again, i guess he could jsut hand deliver me one.

I was thinking about a month also. I already have the go ahead from him so its just a matter of finding a place, determining a price, getting as many people as possible, and making reservations. The nice thing about MM is that he can not only tune the AccessPORT but he can also tune the interceptor and the eManage Ultimate so it doesn't matter what engine management system you have he can tune it.

Just in case, I sent an email to another shop asking what their club/group pricing is on the dyno for a day. Competition is always good so will see what they say.

i am thinking the end of may or the beginning of june. Then i will have the money for the AP and the money needed for the dyno time and the tune from Jeff. Also that should give me enough time for the Mazsport midpipe to get here and be installed. It was ordered last week so a month should be good on that hopefully.

as far as place... does not matter to me i would be driving 5 hours to get there anyway so 15 more minutes across town would not be a big deal.

I have to drive 2 hours, myself. Well, maybe tow the car if things don't improve. I don't really care what shop as long as the cost is right, they are really cool, and I can get my car running correctly. Jeff should be able to handle that part.

It would be cool to do a before and after on that Mazsport midpipe. I'm sure I could install in less than 30 min.

i agree on the before and after on the midpipe, but at the moment i have the RP supercat. So it would not be a stock cat to a midpipe comparison .... so not sure how that will work out. but yeah i agree on the quick swap of the midpipe in and out also, five bolts and two O2 sensors.

So it looks like you and MM need to decide on a date, time and place. If you start a new thread make sure to post the link up here. Some prices would be good also. Just in general ofcourse untill things get set in stone.

I am more interested to just see what my car will put down with the mods that it does have and to see what gains will come of the AP

Like I said, I have already contacted the OP and another shop to see about prices. After that, we will decide on a date. Then we need people to sign up!

Not sure what the prices are in Chicago for an 8 hr. Dyno day but I looked up a few places here in Madison. One is $650 on a Dynojet and the other is $600 on a Mustang. If the Chicago prices are to high, this is always an option.

Yeah, that is an option. Lets wait to see what the Chicago shops prices come in at and we will go from there. I just hope we can get enough people together to do it.

We can even do a half day Dyno rental. The only way we can go anywhere else other then P@L is if MM comes down. If not we have to go to P@L since they are the only ones that can tune with the AP.

I believe tdiddy already talked to MM and said that he was alright with flying in to do the tuning ... the spot and time is what needs to be figured out now. And i also believe that tdiddy has that under controll and we are just waiting to see what he finds out when the shops get back to him.

Remember, GRD can also tune an AP.

We will essentially have two types of people wanting to do the Dyno, those who want MM to tune their car and those that just want to Dyno their car. We will be splitting the cost of the Dyno among everyone but the cost to get MM down here and Tune our vehicles should only be shared by those getting tuned. That is unless MM is coming down out of the graces of his heart I'll start. (This is all dependent on price)

DYNO DAY- TBD

1.Devildog1679- MM Tune
