Chicago Cobb Access Port Tuning Feeler

Hey guys,

I live in Central IL, but my tuning shop is in the chicago area.

My old friends @ P&L Motorsports hooked me up an early access port in order to start servicing the RX8 crowd. They primarily serve Subaru, Mitsu, Nissan & other turbo cars, but were confident handling my 8.

P&L is looking for a few RX-8's in the area for an 8 dyno day. If we get 5+ for one Saturday, we'll get a significant AP ProTune discount. They will then custom tune the RX8 accessport for your car.

Contact me if interested & we will try and set up a weekend.

Arr

I'm in, depending on price of course. There may also be a few members that don't have AP's that may want to Dyno their cars. I Know of at least two.

I have the MS CAI which is the same as your AEM CAI. Why can't you use the AP, I've been running with it with no real issues. Other then the fact that I'm running rich at WOT 11.0 AFR. I'm data logging this week so MM casn dial me in. Though a dyno tune would be better.

He didn't get it from MM and he is having some drive ability issues with the Cobb Stage 1 tune. It should work with a proper tune from a Cobb dealer.

I already have an AccessPORT and I would be interested but I don't think they would want to try and tune my car right now. Its turbo and my intake is less than optimal.

So when i buy the AP here in the near future, there is actually a shop relatively close to IA (chicago) that can do a speciffic dyno tune for my car. If this is true then i will so be there when i get the AP. Things are lookin up. Make sure you guys post up your before and after dynos after you have your dyno day.

They are a AP dealer

From their site

"AEM EMS standalone, AccessPORT Pro/Street Tuner, UTEC, Apexi Power FC, Apexi S/VAFC, DSMLink, Greddy E-Manage, Hondata, Hydra Nemesis and more. If you do not see an engine management option listed for your vehicle, please contact us for additional options."

just because they sell an AP does not mean they can tune it. . . thats why i want to see what they do with these guys' cars. See what power they can get out of it and make sure they know how to tune a rotary.... no offence to anyone but i am a little parinoid about who i want to blow my motor up

I know P&L has tuned at least one rotary. While the AP was in beta, a person from Kentucky went there to have his tuned. Sorry, I don't remember his name. P&L has a very good rep with the Chicago STI crowd.

I will most likely not have the AP by the time you guys decide to do this. but, like i stated before, i am verry interested in haveing someone close to tune my car once i get it. It would do away with alot of the hassle of getting hte differnt maps and changeing them all out myself. However, i would still like to see the guys that goes' before and after results. See what these guys can do with an 8 an dthe AP. I just hope they do an excellent job so i have somehwere to take my car.

If you get a price of the the AP from them along with a dyno session of them tuning the car with it. Post it up and let me know. If the car gets dyno tuned then no need for the MM maps. Although i might still buy off of MM to support a fellow forum member

What readings are you getting. We have the same set-up just about and it seems to be OK with mine?

I dont rember my readings but the car would bog down alot. one time going down I90 it would got past 105 mph and it just guzzled gas. I had had the stage 1 map on for about 2 weeks and 300 miles

Who knows maybe a dyno tune could fix that for you. I'm sure it's easier to tune on a Dyno then the way MM is doing it.
