I don't have much to do at my new job. 2 weeks and my only official act has been to setup a printer. It gives me a lot of time for my Mod duties.

On Monday I think I did about 1 hrs. worth of work. The rest was spent reading up on FI threads. Luckily I still have a job.

Hello fellow Chicago friends - I just got an 8 about 2 weeks ago after attending the ZoomZoom Live event back a couple years ago and falling in love with the car. I am super excited to be an RX-8 owner, but also a little nervous given some of the problems it has - can you blame me? Anyway, I love cars and this is my first post so I thought I'd say hello. I have an '05 GT in silver and so far I am loving it!

Bah, you are fine. People don't post about how great their car is running, so you have to take that with a grain of salt.

Regardless, congratulations!

BTW, all you people out there who have been at work but not working ... I am soooooo jealous! I've been buried (and obviously not my usual post-whorish self on the forums!)

Hey,

I was driving onto the highway in 3rd gear I accelerated passed 6,000 rpm and then this wierd noise accured. Sounds like a foil bag flapping very fast out the window. This happens in 2nd, and 3rd gear after I got to duplicated it a few times.

Recent service:
K&N drop in filter installed a week ago.
Changed my spark plugs a little over a month and a half ago.
Also, drive short distances alot, if this helps.

I tried searching the forum for this problem, maybe I am looking for the wrong thing but if any one heard of this problem let me know.

Thanks,
Adam

Yes. If the rotary were as bad as it is made out to be there would be no way Mazda could sell them. On top of that you wouldn't have so many people worldwide that continue to buy, own and love their rotary cars. It's a great car. Take care of it and enjoy it.

any power loss or just the noise? Where about's does it sound like the noise is coming from? Does it make the same noise if you rev the car in neutral?

Noise does not accure at idle rev, no power loss, and it sounds like its coming from drive front.

Were you at WOT when you heard the noise? What Spark Plugs did you use?

I got the NGK RE7C Leading and RE9B Trailing. One of them the thread head broke and I had to get one form the dealer which was like RE7A or something like that I don't remeber the exact code. I drove it today again and it comes and goes, it is not very loud. Could it be something with the K&N filter?
