hey everyone my name is jeff. i just joined and wanted to say hey to everyone near where i live. a little about me, I'm currently deployed in Afghanistan on my second tour been in the ohio army national guard as a Cav Scout going on 5 years now. I don't have an 8 yet but will be buying a black 04-06 when i get home in early September. I'll be going to school at UC when i get back also. I'm engaged to a wonderful woman that can put up with all the military bs and lets me still enjoy working on cars. she has a lil one i consider my own and he shares my passion of cars at only the age of three. ( watching cars2 50 times a day was his routine on my R&R) lil background on cars, i started out on civics and preludes a lil bit. civic was my first car and prelude was a buddies. but I'm attracted the the sexiness of the rx8 and iv done a lot of research and still have a lot to learn but i'm looking forward to every bit of it and looking forward to getting to know you all and hopefully meeting each other at meets. thanks for reading

Jeff, James (BBRX8) won't sell his beloved 8 anytime soon. His cojones are about ready to drop once he gets his 8 back. After riding around in a Kia for the past few weeks, they sort of retracted.

Come back in Sept and it'll be prime time cruising season. I've learned so much from this forum and the people around Cincy are a great bunch. We'll treat you to a cup of coffee at Fuel on a Saturday too.

 

Anyone interested in a GROM Audio iPod/aux adapter? It works on most 02+ Mazdas until 2009 i think. I don't think it works on S2's. It works for S1's with firmware v9.55 and later. I bought it right before I decided I wanted to sell the car and didn't have a chance to install. Since I'm selling the 8 it'd be pointless for me to install it at this point.

btw, if anyone take the Grom audio, and need help installing, I've done it on mine before, so i can help.

 

Dan, you're right. S1 only. Wish it worked in an S2 since iPhone integration is something I'm looking for. The Aux jack doesn't cut it

So far the plan is: Dan is heading over to my place sunday late afternoon to kinda get started. I'll be up by columbus but plan to be back by then. Most of the work will likely happen Monday morning, so if your up for that, i'd say head over either day. You know how dan's car is, it will likely be in my garage over night.

Does anyone need to do the coolant flash? I got a bottle of coolant and bunch of distilled water from my coolant change last time, so if anyone needs to do the coolant change, let me know, I'll bring down to Kevin's place if anyone needs.

By the way, here's my video from the Sunday's autocross. I'm Nathan, who's in pro class (so I'm not directly competing with him, but in same STX car) finished in 32.4sec, while my best time was 34.023. I got second place after another guy who was driving Nathan's RX-8 beat me by 2/10sec.... (his best time was 33.8something) It was a fun event, and there are lots of things I still need to learn, both car control and reading the course.....

Anyway, you all won't have to deal with me much longer. I've got a new job up in Columbus so I spent some time yesterday apartment hunting up there. Probably gonna end up settling near tuttle crossing. Dan, you'll have to give me a gracious intro to the Columbus crowd :P

I don't really run with a Columbus crowd lol. But there are a few good performance shops up here that you'll like that I could show you. All in all a great city, Tuttle Crossing is a very nice area to live, then again most of Columbus's suburbs are. I'm moving from campus to downtown in mid-July. Feel free contact me if you want to meet up once you move up here.

 

If the weather is nice, and KY DOT cooperates, I'll be on two wheels at Fuel on Saturday.

I'll be at fuel tomorrow night if it isn't raining. Satuday is iffy. I may or may not be buying a car on friday or saturday. So far it looks good, but i need to drive it and look it over closer first. I also have to drive up to Columbus area for a graduation party, so it will all depend on the time of all said events.

If all goes well, i'll be at fuel in a new beater.
