Not bad on the Work Wheels. A little higher than I wanted to go though.

good looking wheel at a hell of a price. If you go that size, +30 to +35 offset or so will look nice and not need a fender roll with s-techs. You could probably even do +25.

FWIW, mine doesn't need a roll and isn't very sunk in. I run 18x9 +37 with 245/40/18s. even with the wider than normal R1R's i've never rubbed.

Edit: changed a few things since i originally thought they were 8.5's

Aw, thanks! Hopefully we'll see you out soon. I'm 26, she'll be turning 26. We've been together for about 10 years now.

Background on us. She's a car girl, but not a mechanic. I like to tinker on them, but got burnt out when we relocated to this area due to the small garage sizes in the apartments. We finally bought a home in Walton with a decent garage. She had a Turbo II in high school that would've been her first car, but was stolen before she got her license.

I was burnt out on cars and sold my mustang last year. We started shopping for another car late last year and when she said she wanted an RX-8 I almost fell out in the floor. I have a great wife to want something badass and not a prissy car. I checked online and they had finally gotten into my price range. Took 2-3 months of searching, but I found a very nice 2004 GT Red w/Red-Black interior. Has 44k on it. The owner is a female who doesn't know too much about the rotary engines and she mistakenly babied the engine. When they took it in to the dealer for inspection and to run the compression check for me the dealership said it wasn't in the ideal range and they went ahead and installed a new engine. Best part is the car still has warranty until November, they said bring it back before the warranty ends in case it needed another. Always nice to find dealers like that. Planning on keeping this one a while, also looking to pick up a 6spd for myself later in the year. I really do love rotary engines, always have, but until the RX-8 was released it was just hard to find one in good condition that wasn't beat to hell and back.

Sorry for the long winded reply there. Just scrolled up and realized it. I type too damn fast.

What brand /size tire? OEM Wheels? Send me pics, I might be interested.

Yeah, Fillmore's is the one on KY-18. I'll try to keep everyone updated on these cruise-ins when the weather warms up.

I wish we did, Triple Crown is a nice place! Not too far from there though, we live right off the I-71/75 split near Main/High street.

Thanks again for the warm welcome all, looking forward to meeting everyone. Side note, if anyone gets a good deal on tires this RX-8 is currently on Toyo Proxies which I hate, and the rears are pretty much shot. I'm thinking about picking up some Continental Extreme Contact DWS, but would need someone that can mount/balance for a good price. Everywhere up here wants $25/wheel, no alignment included. Back in southern Kentucky we were paying $25 for all 4 tires mount and balance.

Feel free to PM me your facebook and we'll add you. Who knows, we may have already met before. If you had an rx anywhere near me, I've probably spoken to you.

Try Walmart in Florence. I got mine mounted on bare rims/stems/balanced for $48.00.

If anybody wants coilovers. A guy just PM'd me and has some lightly used Cusco Zero 1's for $800.00 in TX. I guess that is a good deal, but I don't need them, but somebody else might. I think these things retail for around $1600, but most people like the Zero 2's instead.

Enkei 18 x 8". Can't remember the offset. Tires are Bridgestone RE960A 245/40R18. About 50% tread life left. Dry handling is pretty good. Not the greatest with a lot of rain. Maybe that is my driving. No rash or dents. I bought them off a friend who had them on his 8 and he babied his 8. I only put on about 2000 miles on them since I had them. I'm about ready to put my summers back on.

Wow, just missed about 3 pages of posts.. trying to catch up. I am in a union here in Cincinnati. Local 392 Mechanical Equipment Service. I basically do HVAC service and building automation.

Just dropped off my Rx8 at King's to have the transmission looked at. Still have the grind going into 6th gear, but does seem like it's lessened over the last couple of weeks.

I am up for a meet anytime !! I need an excuse to put some miles on it.

Anyone meeting up this weekend if the weather permits?

I work at The Nielsen Company in Cincinnati - Chiquita Building.

@Mazdax3, you shouldn't have any problem selling those but looking for good tires more than anything. Thanks for the pic though!

Futz and I will be there. We're going over his house afterwards to put on the Tein springs. Little by little, I won't be ridiculed by lower, louder RX-8s.

Wife ask me why I didn't go over to the Wheel Dr today. I told her I had a plan. Of course, I didn't tell her what the "plan" was. I'm just going to make an executive decision.

BTW Allen, here's some plate ideas. I like 4NICA8. I'm sure OH will approve that.

What time does this run? I'd like to make it out if possible. She may have to work though.

I have done it. Just take your time, use a heat gun, move steady and slowly.

Any razor blade trimming? Or is it all with the gun and the roller?

Let me ask you a few questions first before you start going crazy with a knife LOL

What size rims/tires/offset are you running?

How low are you?

Don't trim if it is not necessary.

Don't think that I was doing that...LOL. I have seen where it was needed on other vehicles and I was getting prepared for it if necessary.

Stock height (currently), 18X9.5 +35 all around wrapped in 365/35R/18 S-Drives

Brad,
At stock hight you'll probably only need a slight roll, Lowered would need a full roll, and slammed would require trimming the bumper tab most likely.

acmarauder: Cars & Coffee at fuel is from 8-12. Since it looks to be a nice day i'm sure quite a few will have their fun cars out. It usually doesn't get hopping until 10 or so. Even if the wife has the 8 out, feel free to stop by in whatever. It's not a strict place and plenty of people come to just look around in their dailies. I usually go almost every weekend year round and in the beater to boot. It's a great atmosphere and some serious car guys show up. The best part is that there isn't much attitude and everyone is just a gear head there to be a gear head.

If you need help with this, I may be able to assist you. Are you going to use the Eastwood kit?

I went with the kit you recommended in December from Next Level Motoring. I just ordered it so I will be doing it sometime in the next 7 days. My wheels will be here tomorrow so I am shooting for this weekend or sometime early next week.

Are you buying it or renting? I have to decide if I want to roll the rears on my Speed6, as I really want to reclaim the wheels (with sticky Advan tires) off the wife's car. She never uses them to their utmost and I like shaming people who think they have a car that handles (like those butch looking Camrys). I just wish Mazda would use normal offsets so I wouldn't have to think about doing this (stock on the Speed is 7" width with +55, wheels I have are 8" with +45. They rub).

I rented it but I am more than happy to share it while I have it. Anyone interested in rolling their fenders is more than welcome to use it while I have it.
