I don't have any pics yet. Its an 6MT car. I put it beside the Iroc in the garage when they were calling for hail yesterday. I need to give it a bath, it's dirty.

I hope you have fun with the RX8. It is a great car for what you want to do. You obviously know what power in a straight line can do, but this car is so fun to drive. I have had many muscle cars. I love this car the best for it's balance. Great pickup, and you will learn a lot from these people on here. I would say, concentrate on the suspension mods. Don't worry about power, you will learn that when you increase the handling you can really push this car to the limit. Let me know if you need advice on suspension mods for your 40th.

Welcome Cruzn! Myself, Tacti, Chiefmg, and lycanthrope are all regulars to the SCCA autox scene in Cincy. Lycanthrope is Nathan and he is one of the co-chairs for autocross in this region. He doesn't post on here much but if you want to send him a pm I'm sure he'd be more than happy to help you out. If not I can answer some questions as well. To get you started here are a couple links.

Congrats on the car and we hope to see you out chasing cones with us this summer!

Yes, I did infact get the AE from Performance Toyota. Went to test drive it and a Mazdaspeed 3, and like brilliantblack8 said, you couldn't beat the handling in the 8 and I was sold. Alot of the other 8s we looked at were beaten up pretty good.
luckygrrl, thanks for all the info, I'm definately in for some twisties this summer. It'll be fun to see how the Iroc can hold up against the 8's times in the twisties.
Do you guys ever have local gatherings in the summertime?

I thought they would have called me back to take my offer since it had been sitting up there for a while.
The car was in great shape. Only had the small crack on the front bumper like I've seen on a lot of them. Welcome to the club!!

I'll add my welcome to Cruzn too.
Like luckygrrl said (where you been girl?), there are several people who autox their cars. I use my Miata, the 8 is the wife's and she doesn't want me tearing it up (her words). There are some good venues, I haven't really looked at the schedule since I'm gone until May-June, but if they have one at Wilmington you should go. Nice big lot and a lot of fun (just watch out for the dusty course for the first round of runs, I managed to spin when I went).

Hi guys, I'll be joining in autocross this year too and plan to make it to Wilmington. I feel like a stalker, lol, I get emails of this thread every morning and read through it but never actually log on and comment. I look forward to meeting some of you at autox meets.

So I was driving on 275 west towards Colerain Ave to meet this lady from Indiana who wanted to come take a look at my car. So I am driving on 275..set the cruise at 70mph and this older mitsu 3000gt rolls up beside me and wants to race and all that jazz. Keeps down shifting and gunning it and being a total piece of ****. This goes on for at least 10 mins. Has 30 day tags and huge dents all over with oversized wheels that doesn't look right.
I mean come on..just leave me be ****! I was listening to some 700wlw and was in a mellow mood. Stupid kids.

Almost got broadsided in the CX-7 downtown this afternoon at 6th and Central. Some guy in a Acura TL didn't see the red light (or chose to ignore it) and was barreling down 6th to the entry ramp onto I-75. I happen to catch him out of the corner of my eyes as I was headed north on Central just as I was entering the intersection, slammed on the brakes, and the guy looked like he was going to **** his pants. Had I been a second or two faster, my wife would have taken the hit on her side. The guy was doing at least 35.
Then headed north on I-71 North around Kenwood Rd exit some douche in a CRV decides he wants to go from the center lane and exit Kenwood Road. I happened to catch his right front coming over and I ditched into the breakdown lane. You think the guy would have just gone up to Montgomery Road exit? No, once I went past him he slams on the brakes and cuts off some other cars then exits.
I think the U.S. should have driving laws like Germany. This **** doesn't happen there.
Rant over...
Kytten, BTW, there's another 8 in our area. One of the nurses at my doctor's office bought a used 2006 from Kings a couple week's ago. I told her about all the things she needed to do for maintenance. One thing the King;s rep told her to do was rev the engine to 4K and then turn off the engine. WTF?

hello new people
rev to 4k is just a variation of the 3k for ~10 seconds that's in the S1 owners manual. It's to keep the car from flooding and has nothing to do with carbon. 3-4k wouldn't clear anything out regardless. Not high enough in the rpm range, and no load on the engine.
The theory behind it is that after the rev up, the extra fuel is burn off instead of puddling in the combustion chamber. The book has you hold at 3k then kill the ignition, a lot of people just rev and kill the ignition, same thing basically. The hold at 3k just warms the engine up a bit more.
