back in town from a long trip to Japan and China.
well... even though Japan is my home country, being away for so long (about 9 years since last time I went back) I felt I'm back home when I landed in Chicago....

so... what did I miss??
any events/meets coming up??

can't wait to hop into my 8 today... 3 weeks of no driving kills me...

Welcome back Tact! You know about missing the photo shoot (I was the spoiler and brought the Miata), last autocross of the year was last Sunday, and that's all I know about.

Anyone interested in this stuff? Would rather sell local to offer a better deal to everyone involved..

- BHR ignition kit with black MSD ignition wires
- HKS Hi-Power cat-back exhaust with adjustable tip
- Silver Enkei RPF1 wheels with or without Hankook RS3 tires, 17x9 +35 and 255/40-17 (lots of tread, need to measure the exact depth)

Everything has about ~6 months of usage and ~7,000 miles. Light wear is obviously present but I take extremely good care of everything I own.

No rush to sell, but accepting offers. Have been super busy but will get some nice pictures in the coming days.

Open to reasonable offers. I know that new prices were around the following, and I did purchase everything brand new:

- BHR kit ~ $500
- HKS exhaust ~ $400
- Enkei wheels and Hankook tires ~ $1,500 from Tire Rack

I don't see these items sell second hand enough on the forums to know what a good ballpark price is. I know I'll have a much better audience for the wheels/tires with the Evo or S2000 crowd.

^ That place is shady as ****.

I looked at an 8 there when i was shopping. 2nd gear would grind at anything higher than 5k. They claimed it was a new clutch and i wasn't pushing it in all the way. Whatever clutch they put in was super light and wouldn't have held up to much driving to start with. I believe they got into some fraud trouble for a bit there as well. Just a heads up is all.

No matter which one you choose, make sure to get a compression test done. If they don't have a rotary compression tester, schedule an appt. with the closest mazda dealership. It will be worth your ~$100 in the long run.

FWIW: I paid 13300 out the door for my 05 with 64k on it in May of 2009. It's 2 years later, dont pay any more than 10k for an 04 or 05 unless it has less than 50k on the clock.

Oh and welcome sorry forgot my manners there for a minute.

yes, the 8yr/100k goes with the car. Make sure to stray from salvage/rebuilt titled cars as they void it.

Welcome to Robo. And LMAO at that ad from Cincy Imports, I've seen quite a few engine configurations listed for rotaries but never 2 cylinder!

Just got my 8 back from Sweeney today. Shifting felt a little rough to begin with, but seemed to mellow out as the parts got used to moving again. We'll see how it holds up tomorrow, but no more kicking out of 4th :D

Probably grabbing a few beers this Saturday and throwing on the oil cooler screens (which means bending a lotta fins). Still contemplating spraying them black beforehand. Or I could just let them get dirty on their own.

Welcome Robo!

I get a laugh every time I drive by Cincy Imports. I keep wondering how many cars they can fit in the lot. It keeps growing. They do detailing there and so I stopped in for a quote and the guy ask me what my plans were for the car. I told him I was going to sell it. Without even getting within 10 feet of my 99 Acura CL, he offered $3000. I laughed and told him even if it was missing an engine it would be worth $5500. He was an arrogant SOB too. I sold it outright for $6500 after a week on Cars.com.

They had some legal problems where a lot of cars were seized. Drugs or something.

Robo

I have no idea who this dealer is and the price is way out of whack, but it looks pretty cool.

Kings will come down. There's not a huge demand for 8's. Kings does have good service though so that might be worth a few extra bucks. I bought 3 cars from them and had 4 serviced by them.

Welcome by the way.

This seems like a really fair price:

WELCOME ABOARD! I certainly agree with the others that it is worth having a compression test, especially if over 100k mileage and I too can vouch for the service at Kings Mazda - they know about the temperamental 8's and how to work on them. Hope you find one that fits your needs for a great price Are you doing dealers only or considering private sales as well? Maybe steer clear of the '04 model, lol.

They'll fit. I've had my wife's winter wheels/tires in hers with no problem, all in the back seats. I'd take something to put under them though.

Robo,

That's a fair price on the 04, but walk away if a compression test isn't good since it's over 100k.

You may have seen (or heard) my 8 driving by your work. I just moved from Mariemont, so i drove past every morning and every evening. I still drive by in the evenings depending on which route i take to get home. TiGray with gunmetal wheels that have a polished lip

kytten: my 18x9's fit with tires (tightly) side by side in the back seats. Take some garbage bags and wrap the new wheels first.

Thanks for the confirmation and tip Chief & Fuz I am thinking of taking a king comforter to put in the backseat to protect her skin and will also take the trash bags you all suggested.

^^ thanks man. I moved out to milford, but still usually head home on 50 because it has the least amount of stop and go traffic. I can swing by some time on my way home if you're working. Maybe later in the week since i have somewhere to be tonight and tomorrow.

I'm out in Milford for work every day. Frequently grab lunch on 28/50.

I'd love to see it lowered too. And tinted. I'll save up some money during the winter and then we'll see what I want to do to it come Springtime. Once I get that work done, I'm thinking another meet is in order. :D

If you ever stay in the area for a beer after work or something let me know. I live off of cook road. I can meet you on my way home.

I agree with BB8. Pretty good pricing and he's motivated to sell. Let me know if you want someone to go look at it with you. I'd be happy to.

I sometimes stick around a grab a beer at Greenies with some guys after work, since it's the only spot I know out that way.

And looking great, BB. Can't wait to see the finished product
