I'm part Irish as well, and a whole conglomeration of others too. Welsh, Scottish, English, Swedish.

Yeah, it's the coned-off parking that I'm going to miss the most. Sniff.

I will probably do the Hilton or Excalibur or Luxor. They have good rooms at a pretty low price. Mazda Maniac reccomends the Hilton which is close to the In and Out meeting spot, and it's easy to get to the action they have the tran right there. Phil also said The Orleans is good and clean and is near the cart track.

It depends on your budget really but the Hilton and Excalibur are only like 75 per night.

I'm thinking I might take the Subie after all. There's no way 3 of us can cram all our luggage (especially the girls) and ourselves into the 8. We're going down for at least 3 days, to visit my brother and niece, so the girls can't get by with ONE suitcase.

There are events taking place all over the town so staying close to everything is a little hard to do..........The meeting place is on Sahara West.........the GoCarts are West of the Strip, The drive is West to the strip, The traditional Saturday beer hall meet is east of the strip (but close)

I called the Hilton and as of 3/24 they had $59.00 room. I will contact a few joints today and see what they offer.

I'm drinking Irish whiskey tonight. That is all.

No, wait. That is not all. I'm mixing it with pineapple juice.

That is all.

Thank you.

Need the advice of our Utah RX8 buddies. A couple of weeks ago my wife's 2004 RX8 AT powered down while driving on I15. Motor simply stopped. Electrical system was functional. She pulled over and we had it towed to Orem Mazda. They checked it out and found that 1) it was 4 quarts low on oil! 2)30% low compression on rotor #2. There had been no oil pressure warning. They said she needed a new motor but that she would have to provide oil service receipts to qualify. She could not find her jiffy lube receipts so they said they would not cover a new motor ($7K for a Mazda rebuilt) They refilled the oil and it started and she's driving it around now (with the weak rotor). She's not a performance driver so any power loss is not an issue to her.

What are your suggestions for bringing rotor 2 up to 100% compression, finding a less expensive replacement motor, or other thoughts? (besides checking oil on every gas fillup ;-)

I've still got 3 years to go on a 6-year extended warranty, so I'd let Mazda handle issues like that. You should come to a meet and talk to the guys in the club who are do-it-yourselfers. I'm sure you'd get plenty of advice.

Next meet: Next Saturday. We are cruising out to Wendover and staying overnight. Party!

Make your hotel reservations soon. Most of us are staying at Montego Bay hotel/casino.

Jiffy Lube keeps your records on the computer for 5 years.....Just go to them and get a print-out. Mazda will accept the print out - happened here in vegas also.

Phil, if I make it down, I won't have the use of a car at all. Mrs. Tull and the kid will be off seeing the sites in the Subie.

If that is the case, 05TiGr8Lady has allowed me to ride with her. She knows I'm harmless. Mostly.

Things can always change, but last time I checked, that was the plan.

And BTW, I can't get most of the locals to Wendover. Don't be surprised if some of them cancel on Vegas.

The ride for the meet worked out nicely, but from what I hear the harmless part is suspect. The thing I hear is your granddaddy is from London England and his name was Jack.

I am an optomist............My guess is that most will come.........after all it's Vegas Baby!!!

I'm still trying to talk the girls into packing ONE suitcase each. IF they can manage that, we can bring the 8. Hell, all I'm bringing is whatever fits in my duffel bag, a couple bottles of Idemitsu, and one bottle of motor oil.

That damn spare sure eats up the trunk space, doesn't it?

Nancy and I can make it for 5 days on what we can pack into two each 28" suit cases and both will fit into my trunk along with two ditty bags and a lap top. I considered removing the dam spare cuz it's almost useless anyway. My trunk consists of AEM meth injection system, one small tool bag, Mazda tire repair kit, emergency road kit, Mazda vehicle book, 2 quarts of idemitsu along with six 4oz bottles, one quart of Royal purple motor oil, one quart of Royal Purple 2 cycle motor oil, one quart of Royal Purple trans fluid, one gallon of distilled water and one spare tire.
