I forgot to mention dealer told me that they are doing oldest cars first... Kewl, I failed to notice the cleaning alloance.. I wonder how much crap the dealer is going to give me for my mods. I agree with En fuego that we should start a new thread once we start getting our cars checked out. Sounds like we need to get another drive together soon where we can get most of the group involved and maybe some 7's...

I just got off the phone with the dealer a few mins ago confirming the appointment. I also asked about the length of time that they would need the car and the said "for about 2 days". I was told that they already had me lined up for a loaner/rental vehicle.

As for being out of the warrenty period, I still have just over 8,000 miles left on the original warrenty. PHEWWWWWW talk about cutting it close. I will let you guys know how it turns out though.

The work that is supposed to be done to the 8

1) Engine recall
2) Emissions recall
3) Passenger side sun visor (replace)
4) Both rear tail light lens (replace)
5) Intermitent signal on the drivers side heated seat (I have not noticed it but the wife
says it is not working all the time)

Sorry stinger I guess I was thinking you were past the mileage on the warranty, glad to hear you aren't. What dealer are you using?

NMOcho I thought about taking the throttle body mod off, but decided the hell with it...it is staying on. Maybe we can find out what it really is for...but I doubt it.

Suggested weekend drive for upcomming get-to-gether.
528 to hwy 44. Hwy 44 to hwy 4. Hwy 4 to Jemez springs. (60 minute drive) You can take hwy 4 back to Santa fe, or the way we came.

Hwy 44 is more or less. Its also the road I use when I want to go faster then what most cars display on their spedo. But hwy 4 is the drive and its mountainous and a great windy view.

I don't suggest you even think about speeding on highway 4...it is watched very closely. It is a good road for the 8 and it is hard to resist....but resist you must!

I will keep the mod on. I think it helps, but probably more noticeably in hotter days, which were fewer this year. But racing beat tech's said to do it and they recommend it for hot states or auto x. They have done it with their own cars.

I have to agree, Jemez area has state police galore, tribal police that do have authority over highways on their land and there are local sheriff's.

Hwy 44 is now 550 and has been for some time. Hwy 4, thru the Jemez, is not one you want to speed on, but if you must, go ahead, but don't say you weren't warned. I don't disagree, however, that Hwy 4 is a tempting, winding, perfect road to drive something like the 8 on, but reality says otherwise. I won't, and I'm the nut that was leading the RX7 and RX8 pack on Hwy 60. Of course we will not discuss how fast we were going there....right guys?

Hwy 4 is still a great drive. For those who have not taken it, they should. If you really want something to see drive up to Chama and then Hwy 17 to Antonito in Colorado. It is really something during the fall color time of the year....about now. Of course that's not a day trip as it were...or if it is a long day trip.

I dont mind Sik. You just may have to keep that inferior vehicle of yours at the back this time. LOL!!! How has it been going for you? I gave you an open invite to drive my 8 at the AutoX but you never replied.

Isn't it interesting that many reports on the forum have them completed the recall in hours..very few take more then a day. I wonder why our guys are taking two days...or more?

Txag98...have you posted times for the last autox?

Good question about the recall... I still haven't taken mine in yet. I'll try and get that in this week sometime.

Sorry 'bout the times for the Auto-X... I got kind of slammed with some stuff and didn't get them over to the webmaster yet. I'll work on getting that over to her on Monday and I'll post the link when that's done.

I am thinking of not taking my car to the service yet for the recall. I am perfectly happy with her. I have always been using premix with my car and she is actually getting better as time passes. I am at 12000 miles right now. What if someone waits for another 20000 miles before taking her for the recall? It is not a warranty problem so they should take care of it. Would they?
