MadDog: I am glad to hear that the tires are working out for you so far. I am planning on getting some new shoes for the stinger here in the next couple of months. I am debating either the BFG or the Pirelli's. I want a good tire that is going to give me traction while cornering but, here is the tricky part, I would like to get more miles out of them than the Dunlops that came with it. You know what I mean? I cant wait to hear about your new changes as well MD! Are you still parking in the same area? I have not seen your car lately.

NMOcho: I agree we do need to get together here again real soon. My weekends are booked up though through mid Febuary. I hope the house selling and moving goes smoothly for you. I know it can be rather stressfull!!

MadDog, I'm planning on using some money from the sale of my home for a turbo... I would like to talk to you to get a game plan. Let me know what's best time for you. Your help would greatly be appreciated!

Right on! Now that's what I'm talkin' about!!

Do it man! We should meet for breakfast again or something to discuss your rise to the ranks of fast cars! I tell you, after I changed the fuel management I felt better about turning up the boost. I'm running about 8psi now. It was about 4 when we all last got together. It is so cool to blow the doors off a 350Z!! Even with the new wider, stickier rubber, I can break 'em loose from a roll! I've spent less than $4g's on mine so far, I and I have no regrets.

MazdaManiac wants to come out for a visit some time. We can get your 8 running with the big dawgs!

Saturday and Sundays are best for me. You want to meet up this weekend 1/28/06 or 1/29/06? I don't want to post my cell number on the site since I have had it for 8 years, so I will send it to you via Private message, feel free to pass it to Kewl or Stinger though. My email address however is Billsbar14@earthlink.net (will change when my house sells). I am ready to take my 8 to the next level! I am tired of my Saturn Redline smoking my 8 .

Hey everyone how is everything going. I was just wondering if anyone has had a problem with their 8 using to much oil. I know its supposed to burn a little oil but mine is using like a quart every 500 miles. what do you all think, should I take it to university mazda and have them take a look at it?

And I also got my job and classes all figured out now so I will have some time to play around now and I would like to meet everyone some time. This coming week is the last weekend that I am busy, so after this weekend I am free for the rest of them

That sounds like a lot of oil to me.. It might be worth University checking it out. My car only uses about 1/2 to 3/4 a quart in about 800-1000 miles. Depending on how much I am being a lead foot. I have about 14,000 miles on it now. My daily commute is usually paseo del norte to second street then up menual. Well my sunglass holder broke off last week so have to take it into university to have that fixed. I just keep having cheap plastic issues in my car. Glad to hear you will have some more free time soon. It will be great to meet you.

Just wondering are you still going to be in the ABQ area or are you moving out of state?

That does sound like a lot of oil to me as well. My 8 uses about the same as Ocho's 1/2 -3/4 a quart every 800 miles or so. I have noticed that it does use more oil faster the heavier my foot gets if you know what I mean. But it has never been that bad.

I would like to follow the turbo transformation, if possible. I am not ready to take the plunge yet. I only have 3600 miles on my car, but it is definitely in my plans.

Stinger: I am still in ABQ and plan on staying. I have a buyer for my house so hopefully I will close on it in a few weeks.

Faffy: thanks for the tip. Yeah I only threw out my email as I will be going back to Comcast when I sell my house. If any of you would like my permanent Gmail address just let me know. I will love to keep everyone posted on the Turbo upgrade. But to be honest I can't do it without MadDog's help. I have built some engines and things for my old novas, but MadDog's research and time on the 8 is a very impressive. I have a list of things I need and have been reading through the threads regarding the turbo's. But need the advice from the pro.

Can’t wait until this cold weather gets out of here and we can all enjoy some nice drives together!

Sorry I haven't replied lately!

I'm going to LA this weekend, but maybe next weekend we can get together. I'll offer up rides in the only turbo'd 8 in NM - this time running 8.5psi, up from 5psi when you guys last drove it! WOO! HOO!

Alright. Thanks for the info, ill probably take it into university this week so see if something is wrong.

O and one more thing. My car still has 20,000 miles left on its warranty but after its up im going to get a turbo for it. I already have the money ready I just need to know what the best setup to get would be and where the best price I could find it for. When I get it can someone help me install it and tune it? That would so awesome. Thanks.

Not so great. Its about 17 around town. That's down about 2 mpg from the non-turbo condition. But, I have to say, my foot is laying into the accelerator a lot more since the turbo went in!

^Is this Jeff with the silver 3rd gen? Awesome meeting you boys Friday night! I went down to RotaryRX on Saturday to show-off the boosted 8 to Tom and the boys. I let Tom drive it. He was pretty impressed!

What an awesome rotary weekend I had! Friday night, I was cruising around after dinner on Montgomery. I saw a nice FD and pulled in to chat. It was JFroTurbo (I think) and his pals. It turns out that JFro's brother had seen me up on Tramway one night and recognized my car as the only boosted 8 in the state! JFro's brother (sweet BMW M3), a 350Z, a camero and a fourth car were all doing about 20MPH down Tramway!! After a half mile or so of this nonsense I got all pissed-off and started blowing the BOV and chirping the tires on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts to show-off (not too many 8's can do that!). Finally, a right-turn lane came-up and I blew around them. Apparently, I made quite an impression! JFro's brother told me at first he saw me and said "oh...its only an RX-8". But after hearing that BOV, he knew it was a little different!

Anyhow, it was really cool that he remembered my ride! Later Friday night, a Mustang with some kind of exhaust and cams thought he would pick on me and my poor slow 8. He came up beside me on Paseo gunning his engine and stuff. So I bit. He litterally could not keep up!! I put a full length of space between us before I let-off! He wouldn't even pull next to me at the next light he was so embarassed!

Saturday I went by RotaryRX to hang out a little. Very cool guys there. I spent the rest of the day tuning. I bet I managed to tweak-out another 20HP going to about 11.8 AFR. Saturday night another Mustang, this time with a 331 stroker, headers and exhaust wanted a piece. I was even with is rear quarter panel and no one was gaining anything. It was dead even.

Then Sunday, I saw JFro on I-25 and we had a great run! I saw him up ahead and raced to catch him. When he saw me, we played a little bit. He wasn't putting any distance on me in his 3rd gen!

Needless to say, I am feeling pretty proud of my 8 after surprising a few folks this weekend! Plus, it seems that people are starting to get wind there's a boosted 8 in town! sweet....

You know, I was just thinking that I haven't heard a peep from Kewl lately. I wonder what's up?

Yeah, people aren't really expecting an RX-8 with 10psi of boost! haha! Its quite a ride, I have to admit. The extra power is nice. If we can get together, I'd love to have some of you guys drive it.

Hello All,
Ran into a Red 8 today at starbucks on Montano and I-25, he said he was a registered RX8club but hasn't posted anything. If you read this please introduce yourself . We need some color to our current group!!! Kewl.... What have you been up to? Hopefully weather stays nice and we can all meet again soon and possibly have a few new people join us.

Hey Sik,
Don't think we've met. Its been pretty darn quiet around here lately. Anyone interested in meeting for breakfast burritos, Range style, on Saturday?

I think with this lightning fast 8 roaming around - aka MadDog, people have been unsure if they should show their face in the area. I know what 4psi does, I don't know that I can stand for something with 10+.

Saturday breakfast would be great for me. Has anyone been to the K&I on Broadway for Breakfast burritos? For there I think the name Travis fits better. My guess is there isn't a sole in the house that can eat even a half-Travis. Or even two pancakes! I'd be willing to watch them try however!

MadDog which Range were you think of, Menaul or Wyoming? Around 9 or 9:30 for those traveling into town?

I vote for K&I....more fun.

I've been working too hard...and spending sometime in Florida with the family. We tried the Florida trip earlier, but everytime we scheduled a flight out some damn hurricane would come along. Since I grew up in Florida I've had my fill of hurricanes so I decided to wait until I just knew there wouldn't be any....late Jan. Funny part was as soon as I booked the next flights in Dec along came that last tropical storm. I began to wonder if I would ever get back to the Sunshine state.

Hopefully we will see many of our fellow 8 owners on Saturday.

p.s. MadDog, I've been catching up on some of your exploits with that power house you drive around. Shame on you!!! ...and congratulations on kicking their butts....and not getting caught.
