Only thing Mazda can tell me is it has a differnt transmitter. Only part that I can find different is the PCM.

I talked to my service manager here at Dobbs Mazda in Memphis. He is going to a big regional meeting in Atlanta soon, and he said he would raise a little hell and try to get me an answer.

Actually we are polluting Trussville's site with a problem we should be discussing in the Tech forum.

I'll post my findings there when we work this out.

sorry to bump this, but could you also find out if the '04 key will work in an '05 ignition? We've established everything but this, though this leads to another solution

Key will work but will not crank the car. It will NOT program.

The key would be the same as last year. Not retractable.

Mazda engineers in the USA are working on this.

ok I see how he did it but the price he is selling it for seems way too low...also he is charging $35 to cut the keys? you can do it at walmart/home depot whatever for a few bucks

I'm going to wait for truss to test if clearing all three keys with the WDS then programming them all works

the $35 is to cut and program, most dealers charge a minimum of 1 hour. $35 is a great deal.

They can't program the key unless the car is there with ALL the keys that will be used after the programming. Once the security access is gined the tech must take the outcode to the PATs system and aquire a incode from Mz's site.

Once the system is accessed only the keys on hand will start the car.

This feature allows a lost key to be "disabled"

I think thats how it works.
