For sale is a brand new original Mazda Rotary Key for the Mazda RX8.

Including transponder Chip (4D63).

Just needs programming to your car and cut the blade by a locksmith.

I'll send the instruction for programming. You can do it on you own if you have 2 ignition keys for your car. (If you have only one, Mazda can program it for you).

The Key is red on the one and silver/chrome on the other side (see pictures):

Hi Chris,

yes it will work on US market RX8. The transponder chip 4D63 is the same on all models.

Only the european remote will not work with US Cars because of different frequencys.

there is no remote included, also no buttons to press, just a key with transponder for the engine immobilizer. You can start the engine with this key once cut by a locksmith and programmed. also you can lock/unlock the doors + trunk by inserting it in the doorlock.

Id like to buy one. How much on average is it to get a key programed from Mazda if you have any information? I only have a switchblade key with my 8 unfortunately so I cant program it myself. Or is there a way I can get it programed from a local locksmith?

i think a local locksmith isn't able to program it. Mazda has to connect your rx8 to their Computer to make your car accept the new key. I don't know how much a Mazda dealer will charge for that. Before you go to Mazda you have to let the blade cut by a locksmith, here in Germany that costs about 10$.

If you have one key I believe you can program it yourself. Its only when you don't have a key at all that you can't program it, if I remember correctly.

 

 

Little bit of searching, was top result. You need two working keys to do it yourself. Otherwise it's to the dealership

However inside Lowes or Home Depot now, they claim to be able to program keys, haven't tried it myself but worth a look.

I know, I know. It was a quick response based on memory as I was going to bed. Thanks for looking it up and correcting me PN Wheel. Fortunately we know some guys at our local Mazda dealerships who can hook us up with programing for no charge.
