A Mazda dealer will need to do this. Most dealers charge 1 hour labor. I know my dealership it at $73.00 a hour. |
You can program your key yourself. It should take you about 5 seconds to do.
|
I'm also very interested in these. And as Jason stated there is a procedure for programming the key yourself, works really well. ;)
|
I have keys on order and will check one of our cars out to see if they will work.

What price did you get from Mazda?
|
I'd be interested in the key as well.
|
I got these on order but they are on backorder. This is so new there is no price listed yet.

Sorry, I haven't read any info about programming the alarm part of the key.
|
I'm also extremely interested in obtaining one of these. Are you taking any pre-orders for the ones you currently have on order? (Assuming they end up working on the 2004 8)

Thanks. My only DIY and I am proud of it. Save your $70. My dealer taught me this and don't even charge me. rip off :p https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...light=code+key |

That must be possible? What happens if somebody had lost a key?? |
What? I don't understand. This is from the Mazda RX-8 workbook. And he coded my rotary key in front of me, following the instructions of his workbook. What is wrong with that!?
