Here are a few more from the Renesis factory. These are both 4 port type (Standard power) for the auto cars of 04-05.

Ready to crate and ship.

Hey Paul, you know when will you get Expo1's core back ? I heard that he got an engine from you and he will ship his core back to you.

I wanna see whats inside, and most important, the exhaust port looks like. Trying to put an end to the Anti-Synthetic thing

We will, at the appropriate time, release as concise as we can, a documentation of this engine. To the extent of the wishes of the former owner.

Curious - how much does it typically cost for shipping of a motor?

expo, your motor aint dead, just leaking oil under racing.

So its more like *check up*, than *autopsy*

That's a good question. We have done a 'hybrid' motor utilizing Renesis parts that was ported. We did some tests with it on the dyno and have since retired it due to sanctioning rules. I can't say that I've heard a street ported Renesis in the true sense though. We're going to post some engine dyno stuff on our new website in the future so if we run a ported renny we'll be sure to post it so everyone can hear.

How many ported renesis motors have you guys done? IIRC when rotarygod tried to do Ray's motor, he said there wasn't a whole lot of material to work with, especially around the exhaust ports. Do you cut into the water jacket and then weld it up? Any details you can provide would be great

Fred had the world's best welders trying that route so if Rick found a way to get the iron rod to stick, I am sure Fred's pros would wanna see how that was done. The biggest impediment to porting the Renny is the time it takes to do it. I got lucky but most others wouldn't want to pay someone else to do it as the gains aren't wrth the time. If you can do it yourself, it may be worth it simply for self-satisfaction.

We've only done the 'hybrid' piece that I mentioned (I wish I could explain fully). We don't cut into water jackets to accomplish anything these days (Like the monster bridge ports). We have had Renesis parts cut and disected to assess all the possibilities and we've looked at various ports in operation with a degree wheel and we can report that there are things that can be done wrong if you aren't versed. The Renesis has a lot of port timing as it is and the exhausts can be cleaned up but unless a person is serious enough to run ceramic seals (Which are the best anyhow) I don't advocate porting. If you want to breath making power at 9000 and beyond you need to seal well up there too. After all that you will need to tune to take advantage of your breathing.

Does that mean :

"It doesnt make sense to do them unless you have too much money or you just want self-satisfaction" ?

I've found that some customers want the ultimate, the best available, all the time, at any cost. I had a friend years ago who had a first gen RX7 with a wide body kit set up quite similar to the IMSA cars at the time. He would pay Racing Beat to build him full race peripheral port engines (Approx 320hp NA at maybe 9200 to 9500 rpm). Since the car was extemely loud he would lend it to a friend who didn't have noise prejudice in his neighbourhood. The friend would turn 11grand with it and spin bearings and do all kinds of rotor and stationary gear damage and bend eccentric shafts. Each engine he had built was approximately $10k back in 1986.

If I had an RX8 and the miles were exceeding 120k, I'm one of those who would opt for a trick unit with more durable parts if I experienced a failure. New rotor housings with ceramic seals, the RE-medy water pump, a little port work etc. If you desire to make increased power beyond 8500 and drive consistently harder than the average while seeking to make it live as long as possible, we definitely have options.

Paul.

Paul. For a rebuild, what would you recommend w/the rebuild for a car planning to push 8-12 lb of boost, daily driven on the street?? Also, what would be the $$?
