Thanks Icemark, although I'm pretty sure the format was correct and that the correct files were attached (just re-read the first post again to make sure). So unless the email was eaten by a blackhole in the Internet or an overzealous spam filter, then it should have made its way there. I don't mind having to wait for a calibration, but I'd just like confirmation from Jeff that it did arrive so I don't have to prepare another email.

Kay... I was in the same boat waiting for the confirmation email and I think I know why (at least in my situation).

I followed everything in the 1st post and when I got to the "Send an e-mail using THIS LINK", I actually right-clicked and copied the email address so I could send it using GMail instead of it opening Outlook.
Not receiving the confirmation I stepped through everything again and this time clicked on "THIS LINK" and let it open Outlook.
I noticed that in the subject line it had, "AccessPORT Calibration Service" which I didn't include originally because I didn't let it open Outlook.
My guess is Jeff has his email filtered to only allow email with "AccessPORT Calibration Service" in the subject line.
So you might want to try it again.
Jeff... correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks Jon, although I did follow the correct email link and my email has the correct subject of 'AccessPORT Calibration Service'. Perhaps I'll just send it again.

Jeff - is the misfire code (and related engine codes) masked by your AP calibrations?

Yesterday I had a "spirited" comparison run. 1st-3rd WOT was fine but when I shifted into 4th my power abruptly hit a "wall". I let off the throttle and gave it gas again and the car didn't like that. It felt and sounded like something was trapped in my exhaust whenever I hit the throttle (I have no CAT.). It felt like misfires. I downshifted into 3rd maybe 20 seconds later and gave it gas to rev match and it was gone from then on.

So basically - with these new calibrations would I still see a blinking CEL for a misfire or are they masked (in your other Cobb AP thread you do list these codes as been masked by your calibrations)?

Jeff, I replied to your email. Should I change the subject so it doesn't get kicked into the list of normal calibration service?

I love you Jeff.

Too bad I'm awaiting Cobb to send back my AP due to the "Fatal Error".

My calibration went to my SPAM folder for some reason though.. "Warning: This message may not be from whom it claims to be. Beware of following any links in it or of providing the sender with any personal information. Learn more"

I responded. Read the first post regularly. But, more important - read the e-mail you are sent each time. Don't depend on an older e-mail for instructions.

that's what I did Jeff, it was the email that contained my latest calibrations, shall I forward the email to you? I was confused about it when I first read it, but went with what it said.

I'm going to throw out the first question then.

There is nowhere within 50 miles that is long enough to do a 2nd gear pull then slow to 3500 rpm and do a 3rd gear pull in succession. So your saying I must drive to winchester, TN to do my pulls right? that sux but it can be done.

MY next question is the map prior to the one you just sent was v4_0_1 and what you just sent was v4_0_3 why was v4_0_2 skipped?

Well, if there is nowhere to stretch the car's legs, why do you want it tuned? Just sayin'.

I dunno. You tell me.
Your last e-mail to me had v4.0.2 attached to it.
It was originally sent to you on December 25th at 12:07 AM.

This is why I have EVERYONE attach their current calibration.

I need ONE e-mail.
Everything attached.
Correct subject line.

Anyone wonder why it takes me so long to get this stuff done?
I don't have a secretary and I have no memory and a each and everyone of you are not familiar to me.
Trying to keep track of the different user names, e-mails and real names is impossible.
Add to that the TORRENT of "IS IT DONE? IS IT DONE?" messages and partial, incomplete or incorrect submissions and I have a bookkeeping nightmare over here before I can even get to the actual business of making calibrations.

I have a database and a sorting system. Buck it, ignore it or otherwise attempt to usurp it and nothing gets done.

Jeff. Why does the AP only show a max throttle body position of 67% during WOT in live data and datalogging?

Jeff, I understand the process. I simply followed what your email told me to do with the calibrations I received. Here I will post it so there is no confusion:

v4.0.2

After performing the two drive cycles, your RX-8 will be ready to provide the required data-log feedback the MazdaManiac for further customization and tuning.
Please read THIS PAGE on Data-Logging from Cobb before proceeding.

Perform the following data-log procedure:

1) Plug your AccessPORT into the RX-8 and start the car. Allow it to warm up thoroughly.
2) Select "Monitor" from the menu options. Press the "OK" button.
3) Select "Live Data" from the "Monitor" menu. Press the "OK" button.
4) Select “Equiv. Ratio” from the Live Data list and press the “OK” button.

5) Place the AccessPORT in a location where you can see the display.
6) Press the "OK" button again to start the data-log and count to 10 in your head.
7) Press the "OK" button again. You have just created your first data-log of the engine's idle performance.
8) Take your RX-8 to a safe section of completely flat highway where you can get the vehicle up to 4200 RPM in 4th gear for several miles at a time without being disturbed.
9) Once you are up to 4200 RPM in 4th, turn on your A/C, headlamps and rear defroster and set the cruise control to hold your speed.
10) Press the "OK" button again to start the data-log and continue to cruise for a minimum of 30 seconds.
11) Press the "OK" button again. You have just created your second data-log of the engine's cruise performance.

12) Take your RX-8 to a safe section of completely open highway where you can get the vehicle up to redline in 3rd gear without being disturbed.
13) Bring the vehicle up to 3000 RPM in 2nd gear. (1st gear for the 4-speed automatic transmission.)

14) Press the "OK" button again to start the data-log and depress the gas pedal all the way to the floor.

15) When you hear the redline beep, shift to 3rd gear (2nd gear for the 4-speed automatic transmission) and continue to redline again, then release the gas pedal.

16) Press the "OK" button again. You have just created your third data-log of the engine's Wide Open Throttle performance.

On boosted applications, if the displayed “Equiv. Ratio” goes above 12.5 or higher in boost, lift the gas pedal immediately and contact MazdaManiac before proceeding any further. Do not test at boost levels above 6 – 9 PSI if possible.

On ALL applications, if you experience detonation of any kind, lift the gas pedal immediately and contact MazdaManiac.

You can now download these three data-logs that you have created using the "Advanced View" menu (ctrl-D) in the AP Manager. They will be saved as Microsoft Excel files.
Send an e-mail using THIS LINK, attach the three data-log files you have just created (one at idle, one at a steady cruise and one at WOT through 3rd and 4th gears to redline) and provide the answers to these questions:
I was following what it said, so I am confused how I did not follow instructions. I do realize they are changed now, but according to that email those were the current instructions. It had no indication of attaching the current calibration and the data logs only called for Equiv. Ratio. Sorry for the confusion, but I did what I was told according to YOUR instructions included with the calibration.

^ Because those are the OLD instructions.
Read the first post.

Check this thread from time to time.

I usually post that there has been a change or an update.

More importantly, when I send you a follow-up asking for something specific, its generally a good idea to actually send me what I need in the form I need it.
