got the maps, will be trying them out in the coming days.
one quick question MM, when we first install the flash and start up the car, you want us to let it warm up, take it for a quick drive around the block, THEN check the STFT AT IDLE to determine if we need to add or remove trim correct?

Check it 30 seconds to a minute after the car starts to warm up. If its already something like "+25", then change the map then.
If its "-4", take it for a drive and then check it again.

"At cruise and idle, the stoichiometric ratio (14.7) is probably best, though it is often possible to run a bit leaner. Mid throttle power should be in the range from stoich down to 13.5:1. On decel, it is a good idea to cut fuel completely, or at least shoot for ratios as close to 20:1 as possible to prevent loading and backfires."
then i realized its because i remember damn near every thread ive read/been involved in over the last 6 years and someone pointed out that that is damn near every thread so.... im searching for "known" things and others are searching for "unknown"
and sometimes i wonder why every one has a problem with the search on this forum when i can always find what im looking for with in 2-3 search word variations

Do this on a track, isolated from traffic. Or, an abandoned runway at a county airport. Whatever you do, you need to be careful. Your posts read like your new to this, so please don't do this in your neighborhood.
It's best to use a data logger, so you can keep yours eyes on the road and tach.

Start with the pedal NOT floored. Try it about 75% or so and watch the A/F.
Then, try floored.
Do it in second gear and third gear. They are different fuel calculations.
You should see numbers that stay below 13.5 for the most part, other than when you let up on the pedal or first step on it.

i need to do some freeway driving this weekend so i think im not going to reflash my car until sunday so i have a whole week to work with the different maps.
I can plug in the AP and play with the live readout modes even though my car is running on the stock flash right?

Not sure if this has been brought up before and sorry if it has but I was wondering if flashing the ecu poses any kind of harm to it,
I do know that on some vehicles you can only flash the pcm so many times before it blocks you from flashing anymore...

Jeff,
Hate to bother you again but just to make sure. I shoul Install your base map let car warm up then go for a short drive around, stop go to idle and check stft and ltft. Add both #'s together and use that # to chose the appropriate map? I just ask because in your first e-mail you didn't mention adding both #'s but in your second you did. Once the idle trim is correct (as close to 0 as possible) I should drive around at variouse loads but not WOT and see if trims stay within + - 6% of idle trim. Now when I'm checking it this time is it just the stft or ltft that I'm checking or are they added together as well? Please be patient with my questions once I get the hang of this I won't be so annoying.
