Alrighty, I'm about ready to order an AP. What's the best way to go about this? I need to make sure it will only modify the fans, the OMP, and kill all exhaust related engine codes. No changes to factory fuel management.

I went to the MM site and into the Google Checkout, but there wasn't any place to write notes about the order, so I wasn't sure if I should place that order there without talking to you on the forum first.

I may work on transitioning the AP to take full control of my fuel management in the future, but for now, I just need the other things taken care of.

You had replied in a thread of mine with this:
Plus, the AP will only turn off codes it is specifically programmed to turn off.
It isn't a "built-in" feature, so to speak.
So I just wanted to make sure whatever I ended up buying actually IS programmed to kill those codes.

Hi,

I sent my first set of logs to Jeff to get a custom calibration and I don't have an answer from him yet, but looking at the logs created with the base map I got scared of how lean hey appear. Minimum AFR at idle is 14.99 and in 4th at 4200 RPM they are above 15. That is very lean, right?

I am attaching the logs if anyone wants to have a look.

All I want to know is if my payment was recieved and my order is in process. That is it! I am deploying to Afghanistan in 2 1/2 weeks and I a need to at least recieved the AP! Help!

Whats the "fuel VE" table and what is the injector pulse width displayed on the AP actually telling you?

not so sure I know a whole lot but it looks fine to me.

Same as the MAF.....

369/467/467 = 280,380,380 soooo if you double the P2 then

369/467/467*2 = 280/380/760

Hello, I have one doubt regarding the LTFT value. Following MM instructions, I did my "third run" yesterday, I took an idle log, and then went to the highway for the cruise log. I don't have cruise control so I did my best to keep it steady. I recorded 4 or 5 logs, so I could revise them and send the most constant and discard the others.

The thing is, the last one (which is not so-constant on engine load) shows a fixed value of 4.52 LTFT %, while all the others (including a 70 seconds log of almost surgical precision) shows a value of 3.74 LTFT. I assume the 4.52 value is more accurate just because I got it in the latter runs.

Does this make any difference regarding the tune? Which one would be better to send? Maybe I should repeat the data log?

Be sure to check out your Short Term Fuel Trims on those same logs you referenced above. They should show either 0.00 or something odd like -0.16%. Either way, the number should remain constant the whole time showing you were in open loop during the data log.

Provided that you were in open loop, the difference in the logs won't matter. Your fuel trims will always adjust themselves and you want them to do that!

Even so, running 3% or 4% is pretty good. Just submit the logs and if there are any problems MazdaManianc will let you know.

Do the logs as per Mazdamaniacs instructions. Then send him the logs. That's all you have to do. Don't worry about trying to get the best/worst numbers on the logs. Drive it the way it's suggest by the instructions.
You'll be here for months otherwise.

Yes, the STFT shows a value of -0.16%, only goes positive numbers last 4 o 5 seconds where I assume I stepped of the gas pedal. I have another one with constant rpm and speed with positive STFT numbers at the end, I suppose it was downhill.

Easy, I tried to follow instructions as best as I could but my car doesn't have cruise control, that's why I made more than one log (and after reviewing them, found that LTFT % varied).

I assume it won't make much difference and send him the first one where there are about 70s of pretty steady cruise. Is that correct?

I suppose it goes without saying in some circles, but I wanted to further point out that prior to taking any data logs be sure to check your MAF screens and ensure they are in place and not messed up.

I made a mistake of installing my 2 screens on my AEM intake on the wrong side of the couplers and thus when there was a good amount of air passing through the intake the screens moved out of position and began to obstruct airflow.

I had a screen move sideways and it caused the PCM to max out my fuel trims to 25%+ while running very lean. I've been tracking down the cause for my slowly increasing positve fuel trims and the screens turned out to be the problem. Installing the screens properly brought the trims right under control and in fact resulted in some fuel being pulled.

SO, all you new AP users or even people with trim issues be sure to check your screens and make sure they are installed correctly as it will effect your data logs and tune overall.

^^^ Exact same thing happened to me. After I installed my BHR ignition, I got excited and through my AEM intake back on without ensuring my screens were tightly secured.

I emailed Jeff/ Ray and they told me to look at ,my intake. Sure enough one of my screens was sideways.

Oh snap! Who says Jeff doesn't have good customer service skills, he emailed me as soon as I emailed him!

I got to have Jeff ride along in my car when we were tuning it at the Chicago tune day at Performance Werx. Let me say, he doesn't beat around the bush. Calls it like he sees it. I consider myself to be of above average intelligence and even I got the brow beating.
