Isn't the stock ECU Map the same on all of our cars? If so, MM or anyone else with an accessport would be able to share that map with someone in the case that the stock map is lost on your accessport, right?

I've seen a few (2 or 3) rare cases where the AP has frozen and or crashed. For the most part I'd say it's pretty fool proof but there's always exceptions with electronics.

One would think it would be possible for the dealer to reflash the PCM in the case of a lost stock map?
If you're concerned about losing your stock map you can always back up copies of your stock map to your computer. In fact the stock map is the default map the accessport racetuner uses.

The AP backs up the stock map present on the PCM for safety reasons but you can always flash a stock map onto the PCM. The difference is Mazda dealerships might have interface problems if the accessport is installed.

Yes, the AP is designed to unbrick your PCM should there be an error or a problem during a map installation.

Technically the stock map isn't the same since the maps vary from year to year and also with differernt PCM types (US, Euro and JDM). However, I'm sure that the map itself remains much the same.

To date there's not been any data loss from an AP in terms of lost maps unless it's happened and nobody has said anything.

Yeah, hopefully should be covered.

By the way if there's a bug reporting to Cobb it might speed things up if you guys with problems report them. Might be they know about it since it's a beta though.

haha funny you all are discussing this. I've been having ongoing issues w/my unit. I am now on my 3rd service repair. Recived my AP back from service Last friday on the 20th, and it failed on me again that evening. It happens everytime I turn my car off and when I come back to turn car on and reboot I get the "FATAL ERROR" I am about over this now.

It may have something to do with exiting completly out of AP before shutting car off

I got a Fatal Error 2 weeks ago. Called Cobb that night and sent them the AP. It's on its way back to me now.

great if you can avoid them but when its the only option to be able to communicate with your car you are SOL.

Does anyone know of a way to reset the AP back to default? or as others have said...to reset its brain

Yeah had a talk with shane @ cobb again today and told him my ap had failed again and he was just as astonished as I was. The mazda engineers weren't in @ the time for explanation, but they will be sending me my 3rd shipping label.

He said that they had never had a unit come up w/fatal error as much as mine and will definately be getting to the bottom of it this time around.

Next time someone speaks to them, ask them to check the forums for support issues from people who dont have the luxury of being able to call them.

Cheers

Sorry you guys are having difficulties.
I always use the most recent firmware on my own application (because I want it to fail on my machine so that it doesn't have to do it on yours), but I guess I'm just lucky.
I haven't experienced any of these failures with the beta firmware, so I can't relly contribute to the fix at this point.
Hopefully Cobb will get it sorted soon.
Another update is due tomorrow.

Calling them is the best way to do it.

There is a new firmware today. Did you try it?

I could call, at a fairly high cost to me, and its not practical as the only window I have as 4-6am before I go to work and workig on your car at that time of the morning doesnt make you popular with family and neighbours.

Tried the new firmware and made not a whit of difference.

Cheers

Damn. OK.
Well, I've been going back and forth with their engineers for the past two days and they have a whole bunch of irons in the fire.
I was promised a software update AND a firmware update that had the last few JDM ROMs incorporated so, hopefully, that will come through soon.

Not at this point.
I'm gonna have to dig through my receipts for last year and see what the customs form says.
I got a delivery confirmation when you received it (or whoever received it for you in Germany), so I'll have to find out what the next step is once I have that number in hand.

OK.

Give me a day to get my updated software so I can post up the rest of the JDM calibrations and verify they work with that file.
