Using the BARO like that is completley plausible, and very much like they do in the LSx's when the go MAF-less. They just need to mask the CEL that the MAF is missing.

I struggle to understand why they do it though, as the MAF is the finest piece of engineering to tell the computer what load the engine it is at. I guess that is why turbo charged Porches do it that way (as explained to me by an ex-works Porsche tuner/mechanic).

That said - all my engine dyno work with the MoTeC the other week was MAP based, but there is a reason for that. Not a factory computer, Traction Control module, or ABS or AntiTheft module etc. in sight! Unless I ran a big long loom out to the car and spun the wheels with something!! LOL.

I'm happy to do some more tests and make them public, but I did some tests a couple of years (3+?) ago where I hooked up a combination pressure/vacuum pump to the Baro. I can't remember seing the OBDII PIDs for baro going that high, as I think their range is less - but I need to check the OBDII J1979 specs again. There is also the calibration curve available in the PCM. The trick is to do stuff outside the "normal" atmospheric BARO conditions.

BTW - there is also Alpha-N tuning, which is purely RPM and TPS based. There are "fail-over" map(s) in the PCM for that mode if the MAF and BARO fail.

Did you have the dongle connected when you did it? I forgot to do it on mine and it wouldn't work. It needs 2 USB cables though.

If I wanted an AP to tweak a few things like OMP flow, kill codes for exhaust, improve fan settings, would it play nicely with my Int-X which is handling my fuel management? Would I need to uninstall my Int-X prior to installing the AP so it doesnt interfere with the reprogramming of the ECU and can then reinstall Int-X after?

Or is the whole thing completely out of the question and they cannot be used in conjunction at all? Couple people have speculated to me, but I figure straight from the expert is the best bet.

I have my Microtec installed at the moment (waiting for a base calibration from Jeff) and the AP wont even install with it in between. I haven't disconnected it yetto see if thats definately the case but I am pretty sure. Will be checking this tonight.

There is absolutly no reason to have the int-x installed with the accessport. The accesport allows complete control over the stock PCM which includes all the elements you touched on including fuel management. It's a complete item that doesn't require any other piggy back units to work properly.

I doubt the AP would play nice with a piggy back unit. Even still, the AP will handle all the functions you need.
