I was in SA over the weekend and saw a car that put 20" on its front fender. My sisters's husband said he saw it a few times as well. Apparently this is getting popular? I hope not

WTF dude, you could have said Yeah, unfortunately a lot of the pics in the "what not to do to your car" thread are from SA.

Yeah sorry. I was in town for my dad's funeral so the little time I had it was spent with family.

So, I just found this annoying piece of information out... there's a second fan back there which I should probably check as well. Gonna see if I can't see it without removing anything in a few minutes before I head to class.

Still trying to find more information on that front fan.

It is a VERY sad day in San Antonio. My RX-8, died last night. Front rotor, is toast. Finally died at 126,845. Good thing I bought a replacement engine with only 19K at about 120,000 miles. Now I need someone other than Mazda to remove the old engine, and install the new one. I called tito at alamo rotary, but he said hell get back to me later, but also, I'd probably save a LOT of money going through someone else. Please give me a text or a call at 210-289-0325, and let me know if you, or somebody you know, can effectively remove and replace the renny. =( . Or you can email me at cdy876@yahoo.com.

Sorry dude, but it has probably been belwo spec for a long time already. let me see what we can do, I have never replaced a renny but I have done plenty of engine swaps. Zamarippa has, maybe you could work something out with him to help and we could knock it out. I would help for free, no need to pay me but since the motor should be dropped form the bottom a lift may be needed. I will look into it and get back with you.

I think the guy in Tennessee who does rebuilds (totally forgot his s/n) posted a thread showing how to pull the motor. He used a cherry picker or whatever instead of a lift in the thread.

Yeah, I talked to Tito from alamo, and he said that the most oppurtune way is from below as well. He said it CAN be done from above, and he has done it, but that the best way is from underneath, but I HAZ NO LIFT?

He said if lifting though, the tranny needs to be dropped and then the renny lifted with a cherry picker.

I just sent him a text and asked him to post up. Looks pretty straight forward, too bad I sold my engine hoist I had it stashed at my dads after the divorce and it was taking up too much space.

Yeah, it's hard to see even if you know to look for it. I can basically see just enough to tell it's there and not running. Can barely see the blades basically.

A few people asked how I'm checking and how I can be sure if they're broken or just not on their cycle, but considering I've checked a few times and it's been mentioned that one of them should be on with the AC, I'd say it's pretty safe to assume they aren't working. Not really sure how else I'd check them.

Well either way the one we checked is seized for sure, any fan will spin if you push it manually and that things was stuck like chuck.
