Not yet, but a good buddy did, he went to UTSA but I'm not sure if it paid for law School or not though.. It pays for books too I believe. PM grungepup, he is the SARX VA benefits representative.

Yeah ... I'll do it or see him at Biff's or Cars and Coffee.

It looks to me like I don't get anything. Not even the GI Bill because its been more than 10 years.... Even though I paid $1200 for it when I separated.

I used the Navy college fund but I still have the hazelwood to fall back on and I believe even my kids can use it IIRC.

yes your kids can use it...
Also, under the 81st Texas State Legislative changes, Senate bill 93 authorized new provisions which remove certain residency restrictions, extend eligibility to spouses, and permit eligible veterans to assign their unused hours to their child. These new provisions are known as the “Hazlewood Legacy Act.”

I'm using the hazlewood act to pay for medical school using my dads time served during Vietnam. Covers fees and tuition. Pretty sure it doesn't cover books.

Cool, my buddy used it, I thought he used it for books but maybe that was something else. He had his foot blown up in the Army so he got out for that and went to UTSA, then Law School. But I know the hazel-wood helped him out big time.

I'll check into for sure. Definitely wouldn't mind picking up all the books instead of weighing the pros and cons of each at the bookstore and trying to find them on amazon.

Unfortunately for me ... I don't think I am going to get it. DD214 shows NY as Home Of Record. I was a resident of TX when I re-enlisted but did not have the presence of mind to change my Home Of Record at that time.

Some how I qualified as a TX Vet when I got my mortgage though.

You might want to check with the Va about getting your 1200 back if you didnt use the gi bill, I have heard of people doing that. And with the hazlewood act, unfortunately they go by your final 214.

Plus I think the act specifically states you must be a resident upon your initial enlistment

I guess it will have to be ... The hits just keep on coming ... Got nabbed today for no front plate. Good thing I had some tie wraps ... now I have a front plate hanging on the lower grill.... Be careful driving in Universal City. I don't know if I have the nerve to show up to Cars and Coffee looking like this...

So I ordered the OEM plate holder from autopartscheaper.com.

Did you actually get a ticket? I got away with a warning for that about a month ago.

No ticket ... a license plate hanging on tie wraps now. New license plate holder should be here by tomorrow.

UC cops suck, i've been pulled over about 5 times in past 2 months (don't ask) and none of them even mentioned my license plate both on my 7 and 8. AND 2 of those were DPS

Yeah the last time I was pulled over was exiting the Toll Road in Austin by a DPS Trooper and he just gave me a warning since I had ins, wasn't speeding, etc.

if you get a ticket, it is a dismissible ticket

I get one about once a year from SAPD, I go to court, with a picture of my car with the plate on and BAM, ticket dismissed and a $10 admin fee assessed

10 bucks is better than the price of the mount or the look of it lol

Yeah but those blue light tickets require some trick to get dismissed

Quick question, just searched with no luck, how the heck do I determine the build date on my car?

One other question, is is true freon can evaporate over time? My a/c isn't blowing cold anymore, I can hear the compressor kick on but no bueno on the cold air action, I just recently replaced my a/c controls with a used unit, could that cause something like that? Could it just be out of freon? I'm at a hair over 88k mileage wise.

It was hot as crap at the HeatWave, hardly any Mazda's out there but a ton of z's, scions, and bigger than buildings wheels rolling around, I got 1st but I'm not even sure if I had anybody else in my class

Isn't the build date on the tag inside the door?
