What if your a enthusiast like me, who likes to drive all type of sports cars? My next ride maybe a C6 vette or i maybe going back to my beloved Z, if Nissan can get some better exterior designers for the next generation Z. If not... its a good possibility that Kubaru-spelling or Toyota supra may be in my garage in the up coming future...

It is quite likely that the V8 version of this car will be heavier than the Corvette, so it'll need a bit more power to keep up.
first i honestly dont think toyota targets Corvette owners or wannabe/future Corvette owners...
toyota sets benchmarks in the industry they sell their cars for premium prices and know they will sell each and every one!.. the last thing on their mind is the competition from the Corvette..
the supra is targeted to a specific demographic.. the skyline,G35, 350Z type of owners, who buy quality imports and are willing to pay the price for it.
fact is, People who buy the Corevette buy it because ITS a CORVETTE.. and people who buy the Supra is becasue ITS a Supra .. nuff said!

I think it's interesting that so many are talking down to the Kabura. Who thinks the RX-8 doesn't handle well? For it's underdamped lightly sprung suspension it handles very well, imo. The chassis is EXTREMELY rigid. This same platform is what the Kabura is based on.
Nissan platform shares their 350Z with sedans and coupes. Mazda platform shares the 8 with the already existent Miata and now possibly the Kabura. I don't care whether the Kabura is an RX-3 or RX-7. If it weighs around 2600lbs and has the same RX-8 Renesis rotary (no need for another lecture on RX=rotary), it will be a very competent car.
As far as I'm concerned, the Kabura is making the rounds all over the world for a reason, and it is getting a lot of press. If it happens, and is on the 8's platform it will be more than capable of showing the current RX-8 its tailights.

Why would it "****" you off to see it as the next RX-7? The Kabura would be very much at the roots of the first generation RX-7.
I won't debate the styling...I'm on the fence about what I think of it in that respect.

true, it would be similar to the first gen RX-7, and I'm sure fans of the first gen will love it, and when I compare to the first gen perhaps it is a worthy successor. PERSONALLY though when I think of the RX-7 I think of the FD. What pops up in your mind when you see RX-7!? FC? FD? Depending on your answer that would pretty much point to what you would expect from a next gen RX-7...

When I think of RX-7's, the following characteristics come to mind:
Affordable (compared to the competition)
Lightweight
Stripped Down
Razor Handling
I think the FD was great, I owned one. I also owned a FC Turbo and loved that one also. But to me, the FD was just too much. There is a laundry list of things that most would recommend you do just to make the car more daily driveable and reliable. No car should come from the factory in such an uncompromising state.
When I think of the next RX-7, I think of something that will have attributes like and compete with an Elise.

the designer said he had no intentions of it becoming the next rx7, in fact the designer himself said it would be an unworthy rx7 as its not pure enough of a sports car!! he said a new rx7 would need to be more pure. even if it does get a rotary option which is totally possible, its not going to be called the rx7

Has anybody ever thought maybe Mazda is trying to get away from the "RX-7" badge all together. The Rx-7 had a helluva run from the late '70's, 80's and early to mid 90's here. Maybe Mazda might be developing a RX-9....i am guessing ....but it seems to me that Mazda is about moving forward. Look at the first RX's RX, RX-3, Rx-7 now the RX-8...etc.
If Mazda was so heavily rapped up in brand name or loyalty, are cars would have been called the RX-7 sports sedan coupe. But its not, because Mazda wanted a fresh start for this car(RX-8). And like wise when Mazda builds there next "pure" sports car, don't be surprised if its not called a RX-7 anymore, it may be called RX-9, 10, 11, etc.

im not totally sure id buy an rx7 if a new one came out or whatever they would call it when it comes out, i and most believe mazda will never make a car as classic as the FD and no matter what its like when it comes out it will top its amazing looks and performance. the FD was the last rx7 and left nothing to desire, and is a competitive sportscar even in its stock from today(of course after you do the reliability mods, but so what, boo hoo 1300 dollars for a little extra insurance, i dont see why people whine so much about this)

Hey, guess what? People like other cars. The RX-7 is NOT the epitome of car manufacturing. Get it together grouch.

no im saying with the current market trends ***** to the wall twin turbo sportscars are not what people are looking to buy, and those are the cars that FD owners want and theres a snowballs chance in hell the next rx7 will have simular performance to the FD. i know exactly what the current market trends are like and i appreciate them, i have an rx8 and its a good practical cruiser but its not an rx7.
and i have no idea what the hell you're talking about with people throwing children off the sides of cliffs...

While I must admit that I'm not an expert in the FD 7, the idea that a new RX-7, if produced, won't match it is insane. It will be faster, cheaper, more reliable, and have more creature comforts. There are plenty of cars out there today that already do that.
I just cannot identify with your position at all. But i guess we'll have to wait and see.
