NA, not FI. bmw's 3.2 liter inline 6 gets 340hp in the new M roadster. 330-350hp from a 3.5 V6 is not impossible.

Well, I'll say that the rear of this Supra looks much closer to an s2000 than the RX-8 does...cough....cough.

 

I think it looks way too much like a Solara. The headlights are shaped way too narrow and slanted unlike the uniquely strikingly eyecatching eyes of the surpas of old, nice and wide and unlike anything else on any other car.

 

The V6 looks very likely since the one in the IS350 is boasting about 310 - 330 hp

 

I like the overall looks, even though almost every single element was taken from another car. The front end is strong and mean and cuts the difference b/ the 350Z and G35 coupe. The A pillar and roofline is 350Z. The rear looks pleasantly gracile and is S2000 and RX8 (of course RX8 copied the S2000 rear).

 

from that rear 3/4's shot, it looks sorta like a tall-ish FD....anyone? maybe just a little?

this concept or "new supra" is the rage on almost all the toyota/scion/lexus and supra-specific web sites. i have an sc-430 and the new supra convertible has the same retractable hardtop - pretty damn sweet! as the current sc-430's power plant is rated at 300hp (at the fly), i'm wondering if the supra's v8 is an all-new engine or a seriously massaged version of what i'm running in the lexus. either way, i like. however, it better come with a manual transmission!

Alot of engines can make that kind of power....

a TVR Sagaris 4.0L I6 makes 380 bhp, adn theyre 3.6L I6 makes 350 bhp.

BTW... speaking of retractable hardtops... the Lexus IS series is due for one. Same mag maybe... reported that there is a 2 door retractable hardtop IS 350 on the way... real pics... not sketches or photochops (I don't think it was a photochop).

Yup, I could have saved you the trouble. The "Scoop" section in Best Car magazine is kind of like reading the tabloids about your favorite actress - could be kind of true or totally off base, take it with a grain of salt.

But if it really does look anything like that, with those specs, I like it.

How much is that car? This article says the V6 is in the $30K price range. Of course more hp is possible when you have an extra $10K to put into internals.

thats only because its a lexus and its got tons uppon tons of luxury features. they are already following nissan's lead and stuffing that engine into many cars... the new V6 camry and avalon already have a detuned version of that engine. detuned likely because of the market segment, not because of cost. they can easily drop that engine and use the same platform as the IS350 to make a supra and keep it under 30k. economy of scale is a powerful entity. 350z starts a lot cheaper than the g35 and has the same engine with the same tune.

 

i agree. it doesnt look like it was designed with much forward-thinking. i would expect to see this around town right now, not in the future.

 

No one is seeing Lamborghini Gallardo in that 4th pic of the rear? Those wheels and flat sides do it.
