that most certainly is a fake photochop image. The middle of a 350Z roofline, door, and all is pretty obvious. Jaguar XK headlight and all.

Better wait for a more reliable source. Not Best Car.

Those aren't XK headlights, nor is the roofline that of a 350z. Well, I suppose it's curved, but far less.

I absolutely love it!

So much so, that if after I drive it and I like it, I may give my barely broken in 8 (2,200 miles) to my wife and buy a Supra.

I'm such a whimsical ***.

The first lines of the first post say 430~450hp. But in the mag it says 430~450ps. its not a direct conversion from ps to hp.

Is the V8 a higher performance version of the V8 from the Lexus LS460? Is this a concept or planned for production car?

it seems kind of legit now, since Road and Track magazine showed the same pics. and yes, the V8 is a bigger and sport tuned version of the 4.3L currently used by lexus models.

it seems the V8 will be around $50-60k starting price, while the V6 will probably fall somewhere around high20k, low 30k starting price.

That doesn't make sense. You are essentially paying $20k for 2 more cylinders?

damn right, its a 5.0L sport tuned V8 making 430-450hp. Corvette starts in the mid 40ks with 400hp with a relatively cheap to manufecture pushrod OHV V8. we are talking about a highly sophisticated high tech DOHC engine and an import car making superior power than the vette and the new M3. That engine with such massive output+ being japanese import sounds like a scarily expensive combination to me. So i can easily see it starting a few thousands above the Vette under this rumored configuration in the article... at least it wont cost as much as the twin turboed Skyline GT-R (rumored to be around 70k according to autoweek and various other mags)

in fact if these rumored specs are correct for the supra, i think it makes more sense for the V8 powered version to be branded as the Lexus SC500 in US and have standard power operated hardtop convertible function, it would make more sense for that price range.

Just some randomish thoughts on this...

I would think that a Toyota-badged V8 version would have to be in the $45-$50k range if Toyota seriously wants to create a Corvette competitor. The power difference is not insurmountable, because when (if?) this car comes out, Chevy can always give the Corvette a little more power to compete if it's necessary. It is quite likely that the V8 version of this car will be heavier than the Corvette, so it'll need a bit more power to keep up.

If it is a Lexus, it only makes sense for Toyota to weigh the car down with extra luxury features that Lexus buyers would like, inflating the price to the $60k+ range (for comparison, the current SC430 starts in the mid 60k range). The car may also get the numb-but-comfortable steering feel of most of the Lexus cars, which along with the price, will make the car more of a Mercedes competitor than one to the more performance-oriented cars in that price range.

The V6 model, however, could be the car that brings some sort of color back into the bland Toyota lineup. If they make a serious Z competitor, meaning a car that has a good amount of grunt, has responsive handling, and is all around fun to drive, they would have a big seller on their hands. I'm hoping they shift their current strategy and go this route with the car, rather than making it more of a comfortable, GT cruiser like every other car in their lineup has been since the demise of the Celica and MR2. I could actually see myself driving a Toyota like that, which is something I could not say about the rest of their cars.

the inflation adjusted price of the old regular tt supra is probably around 60k+ in current dollars.

yeah sounds about right, my guess is around 50k as toyota and 60k+ as lexus.
