Comparing various pics and articles (the print is too small in the scan for me to read and translate) I've come across... I am wondering if this is the IS coupe. One mag was talking about a retractible hardtop LS coupe. Don't forget the M3 killer, IS 500 with the V8...

It does if you've seen the pics of the retractable hardtop coupe. The engines they are talking about sound pretty similar too.
Yes I know the sketches show a different front and back. I'm looking at proportions and overal shape. And don't forget... these are mostly sketches.

Read that R&T article about the Supra...with 450hp, I bet it will weigh ~3500lbs. The old Supra was kind of heavy. I'd take a 2600lb Kabura with a Renesis over that.

This is exactly what I'm suspecting. Retractable hardtop, V8 engine, IS500 (V8 engine)... too many things in common. It also makes good business sense to follow Nissan's example here too.

[QUOTE=PoorCollegeKid]Just some randomish thoughts on this...
I would think that a Toyota-badged V8 version would have to be in the $45-$50k range if Toyota seriously wants to create a Corvette competitor. The power difference is not insurmountable, because when (if?) this car comes out, Chevy can always give the Corvette a little more power to compete if it's necessary. It is quite likely that the V8 version of this car will be heavier than the Corvette, so it'll need a bit more power to keep up.
first i honestly dont think toyota targets Corvette owners or wannabe/future Corvette owners...
toyota sets benchmarks in the industry they sell their cars for premium prices and know they will sell each and every one!.. the last thing on their mind is the competition from the Corvette..
the supra is targeted to a specific demographic.. the skyline,G35, 350Z type of owners, who buy quality imports and are willing to pay the price for it.
fact is, People who buy the Corevette buy it because ITS a CORVETTE.. and people who buy the Supra is becasue ITS a Supra .. nuff said!
