Here's a news report of the Ferrari launch.

Karthikeyan claims vacant HRT seat

Narain Karthikeyan has been revealed as HRT's second driver for the 2012 season, returning to the Murcia-based squad after an eight-race spell in the sport last year. The Indian, who had his 35th birthday in January, joins Spanish driver Pedro de la Rosa at the outfit, the latter also making a full-time comeback.

Karthikeyan’s confirmation, somewhat unexpected as several drivers appeared to be in a strong position to take the seat, completes the grid for Formula 1 in 2012. His debut came with Jordan in the Australian Grand Prix of 2005.

Have you seen the force India and caterham? Exact same nose. And others will have it too.

I can understand an over 40 driver of Schumi's caliber but de la Rosa? Karthikeyan is also a useless driver with too many sponsors behind him.
Young talents succumbed this year, just 2 years before the death of f1.

Ugh! Pay drivers are ruining formula 1. If teams don't have the funds.... BYE! HRT and marussia should just pack up so Ferrari McLaren and Mercedes can run a third car. I want to see that happen. Hopefully red bull are back where they belong this year on the grid, position 8-14.

It's all worthless anyway, the turbo 4 banger will kill the sport in 2014.
Give me back the 3l na vs 1.5turbo battles with v8, v10, v12 engines fighting together...
F1 should be the pinnacle of motorsports but they made into a big tv show.
The only limits should be tyres, displacement, weight and size. That's it.
Free aero, free number of engines during a season and screw it. Let's see how long teams like caterham, marussia and virgin would last

Oh ya, I forgot this one (Ferrari Friday).

Massa warned by Montezemolo
Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo has warned Felipe Massa that he must "do something great" to retain his seat at Ferrari beyond this season.

Massa has been under pressure after a disappointing season in 2011 when he scored less than half the points of team-mate Fernando Alonso and never finished a race higher than fifth. Speaking during the launch of the new Ferrari F2012 Montezemolo said that the car was going to give Massa the best opportunity to prove himself.

The engines will be 1.6l turbo V6 but yeah I want the Ferrari V12 back. Or the V10 revving up to 24k rpm, THAT was formula 1 dammit lol. Refueling back, one move rule gone and most of the tilke tracks gone.

Yeah, turbo v6 or 4 banger is still the same 12k limiter bs!
Sooner or later they will be racing diesels... you know, they win every time at lemans! (Forget that they are pluri-turbocharged engines racing vs NA gas ones...)
The single lane change rule is stupid. Who cares if a driver dies during an event, it's racing we're talking about, not soccer!

Don't even get me started on soccer... That world cup final was a tough one to swallow... Spain deserved it but man when we beat Brazil I thought we had it.

I think the rev limit will remain at 18k. I read an article a while ago about all the revised engine changes.

Whitmarsh admits to dummy exhausts
Martin Whitmarsh has admitted that McLaren displayed exhausts made of plastic at the launch of its new car as it hid components from its rivals.

The MP4-27 was launched last week in Woking, with notable bulges on the side of the car where the exhaust exits were which appeared to hide the actual configuration. There was also an obvious lack of a complete diffuser, and Whitmarsh confirmed that the car displayed at the launch will not be the same as the car that runs at the first test in Jerez, starting tomorrow.

"The exhaust was made of plastic, you won't see those components in that form again," Whitmarsh confirmed to Auto Motor und Sport. "The car will look different at Jerez to what it looked last week, and a lot different in Australia. At the weekend at Idiada (Spain) we did an aero test where we had a series of news parts that were not on the car at Woking."

I doubt it. Kubica is far from fit. If Massa gets the boot, it'll be a driver from the academy to replace him next year. But we might see amazing things this year. He has to deliver.

I was kidding, i'm 90% sure that Kubica won't return to f1 any time soon.
I'd rather give him a seat than waste fuel with de la rosa though. Some big team could do it as an investment to give him some seat time now that the poor teams cry when you just mention "tests"!

We'll first day of testing is over. Raikonen quickest in the lotus but that doesn't mean much. First few days is all about shakedowns and quality control. 5 Weeks to go

If every team has that nose bump i wonder what makes ferrari so "unconventional"...
I also can't understand why they said that their unconventional suspension setup was dictated by packaging constraints while all the other team managed to keep the most efficient one.

I feel like we're screwed already. Unless they really sandbagged today with very slow passes on the straights...

Until the first qualifying session, you'll never know what the potential of a team is. They will test at 95%, gain lots of information, without letting others know their true potential.

I know that but still... being first while sandbagging would be better!

Some teams feel their computer models are better than the other teams. If real time, at a reduced speed, matches their computer models then they are golden. Bragging don't mean much at this point.

it is the same "We think that...." that screwed ferrari duringthe last 3 seasons.
They could use a computer that's smarter than God to design a car, yet I think that tests should be real tests. Just the driver and the datalogs, no interpolation or "simulation" work.

Simulation is what makes the difference from bringing medium compound to temperature or not... Had ferrari done real-world tests with compounds and aero setups this wouldn't have happened.

Today meant nothing. McLaren posted equally bad times, as did red bull. All they do now is making sure it all works. Look at the glowing paint on the Ferrari. They are just gathering data. Also the pull-rod suspension is at the rear not the front. The ugly nose is just rule legality. And in the case of McLaren, they lowered the entire car. It's all speculation till the first qualification is over. Then we'll know.

I suspect that Massa will be dropped partway through this season if he doesn't step it up, perhaps with Bianchi. Ferrari have never had a problem pulling contracted drivers.

The messiah will be too heart broken over the break up with his sweetie to perform well. He will be second guessing his decisions and later over compensating, making moves that just were impossible to make.

Welcome to the group Nathan.
