FP? I don't know what that is. We get the standard FIA feed with local commentary. There is a pit reporter on-site with his own camera feed.

I have it on in the background and turn around when something happens. Practice is usually boring. There was a car that lost it's nose and went into the tirewall. I don't know how he lost his front.

Where do you watch\record it from? Practice is boring but it tells more than a race about the cars\teams imho.

Vettel out of Q2. Just like Massa.
Kobayashi made it to Q1 with a cracked side pod. Probably from yesterday.

I am so happy for Mercedes for locking out the front row! Keeping their spots at the checkered flag is another matter. Their race pace is despicable! McLaren will be all over their asses! The 2nd qualifying was so incredibly close! Nico really pulled out something special from the bag. He destroyed the rest of the field by over half a second! Much like Lewis did in the previous race. I sincerely hope Mercedes have finally sorted their tire problem. An innovative car is nothing if it can't keep its tires in the operating window.

Not sure if Lewis would have been able to beat Mercedes even with a brand new set of options. Nico separated himself from the rest of the field by over half a second! The long straights of the Shanghai circuit leans more favorable to the Mercedes team since they can utilize their double diffuser whenever they deemed fit during qualifying.

I couldn't remember if Lewis did the same sort of qualifying in Melbourne or Malaysia where he blitzed the rest of the field by around the same margin as Nico. From a qualifying standpoint, it seems like McLaren have a car they can really work with and is in good shape for this year. Mercedes have pretty good one-lap pace, but they just fall off the map when the race unfolds. I am in a way glad that Red Bull have let the ball drop this year. Allows Lotus to move further up the grid. Alonso is the wildcard in the Ferrari even though that car is a dud. He seems to do quite well for a car that is not up to par. Should be quite an interesting year!

We could see Kimi podium this weekend perhaps. Kamui should make it very interesting against Michael. Red Bull still have the best pit stops in the business I think so watch out for Mark. Lewis has his work cut out for him and needs to stay clear of a first corner pile up. Jenson is also in a rather good spot to podium.

Paul.

Vettel is 14th behind a force india, with no DRS. He's already nervous.

Webber scared me. He pulled a wheelie!
Boring race anyway, Alonso is just too good to be true with that electric car.
Perez is an amazing driver.

I had thunderstorms here that caused me to miss pieces of the race. I got the start and the end just fine.
It looked like Schumacher did a fine job of supporting his team mate and may have had a podium finish if not for the pit stop error.
The all Mercedes podium should have had Alfy crowing, if he was still around.
I never heard what happened to Perez. He was running strong and fell back.

Off to read the news.

Mercedes fined €5,000 for Schumacher release
Mercedes has been handed a fine of 5,000 euros (£4,100) following Michael Schumacher’s pit-stop blunder in Shanghai. After the race, FIA stewards deemed that the Anglo-German team had released the former Champion dangerously.

That's a slap on the wrist for a F1 team. It should either have been a much stronger fine or ignored.

It's like being fined the cost of a coffee... makes no sense.
